Day 1 is absolutely the most fun and interesting day. For the fans, brass, Callgirl, bartender in the Hotelbar, Bill, EK the journalist, Fletchers hairpiece.

Like the moves or not, fletcher is going into the draft with his team for next season pretty set. He can focus on the draft and FA’s, plus look at trades from a position of want and not need or desperation

Bill,

the rumors that the Flyers are talking to the Jets and assuming the Jets are looking at Ghost or SanHeim; getting Ehlers will that make the Flyers a better team?

We have a good group of wingers coming

Wish list:

Kirby Dach - I know there are some consistancy issues but watching the highlights, shift and team Canada videos, he looks like a top 3 pick to me. A guy his size that can move and dangle the way he does and pick corners while doing it is hard to come by. When he is on, he is involved all over the place. The 1st period of one of his shift videos looked like a higjlight reel. Unlikely to be there, but Steve K and a couple other rankings have him ranked in the 11-13 range.

Nick Robertson - not sure why he isn't ranked higher. He is both a tremendous playmaker and scorer. If I were ranking players without knowledge of the consesous, he'd be in my top 10. Knowing that the pros have a better idea than I, I wouldnt take him at 11 and now we don't have a 2nd where he could possible still be there. No shot at him barring a trade.

Samuel Fagemo - overager but looks very impressive. I'd be super excited if we drafted him last year, after the year he had this year. Seems to always be after the puck and has good speed and skill. Reminds me of a Sami Kapenen type player. He was a very dangerous player for Sweden but could't finish. Seeing what he did against men, that may have just been some bad luck. He is what I would call a "hungry dog" and we know what the say about them. Could be there in the 3rd or 4th.

Not sure about the D, Sieder sounds like he could be a good pick. Broberg's skill is enticing but many see him as overrated. Don't know enough about the sleepers. Heinola and Vlassic sound decent but likely late first for Heinola and 2nd for Vlassic.

Almost forgot Graeme Clarke. Another underrated that may be available later in the draft.

That cap hit is going to make it difficult to fit him in without sending Ghost plus another contract back the other way.

I don’t think removing ghost makes them a better team, I don’t see how you do any deal for Ehlers talent wise or cap wise

For some reason i feel a trade back tonight. Not sure why but feel like a team with an extra 2nd could move to 11 if Podkolzin drops.

Like Would Ottawa give you 19 and 32 and Mike Condon to get to 11?

Ottawa clears the Condon money and Flyers get inexpensive back up at 2.4 million for 1 year while also picking up a 2nd rounder.

I don't know. Just spitballing. But tonight could be fun

You'd basically have to trade Jake to make it work. Ek talking out his ass again.

I would rather try and swing a deal for Kapanen...not sure the cost though...

Caufield please.

So many mocks have us taking Krebs and I really hope that's not the pick.

Well Toronto needs cap space, so if you're doing Ghost for Kapanen, you're taking other $$ back...and no thanks to any deal involving Zaitsev.

I would be fine with moving back. I don't think the Flyers can afford $2.4mil for a back up without making other moves.

i could see that especially if they have their eyes on a couple d and one should be there at 19 but if they do that hopefully it's because the scouts see as much or more value in 19 and 32 than just 11 and not just a Fletcher decision. Depending on who is on the board at 11 that may be tough to swallow.

I just feel like there is a top 2 and then after that the draft can go any way depending on team needs and if you want to take a chance on someone like Caufield really early.

If they could move back a little and maybe grab a early 2nd rounder that could be nice.

I don't think #32 and a $2.4M backup is worth #11. Montreal has 15 and 46, I'd be tempted to do that.

After everything we've seen Fletch do so far to get into win now mode moving back seems quite unlikely to me but who knows.

Carolina could be interesting. I keep seeing them looking at scorers. Would they take a guy like van Riemsdyk? Could you do something big like Gostisbehere and van Riemsdyk to Carolina for Pesce, #28, #37.

Again just talking out loud. Trying to make the day go by.

I really like Alex Newhook, partially because it's an awesome name. But the fact that he played in the BCHL is a bit worrying. How does that compare to the CHL?

In the right deal I think he would. I could also seem including the pick in a deal to add a player he wants. Should be fun today.
