They got a good one, a nice reward for exceeding expectations but missing out on the playoffs and a top pick this season... lots of positives for this organization the last 12 months |

Hains: The Morning After, More on Caufield
Now that the dust has settled (just a little bit), here's a bit more on Cole Caufield. - Karine Hains
Habs got a much better prospect than they deserved at 15, but I still think of York was on the board, that would have been the Habs pick. |

Oh I have to disagree, I think they were picking Caulfield regardless |

A GM getting to choose between York VS Caufield is choosing between two undersized players who put up massive points. Not an easy decision when they play different positions. |

I know you feel bad about no 1st round pick and your team being in cap hell.
It's ok. You can cry. |

Pat Brisson, who is Caufield's agent, asked Marc Bergevin at the combine why they insisted on interviewing Cole since there was no chance he'd be there at 15 |

Goal Caufield is a great pick for MTL. They will turn their focus to LHD for now and the future |

I'm happy. I've wanted the Habs to swing for the fence at the draft with a goal scorer for years.
Uni-dimensional player some will say...I don't care. He does the most important thing in hockey, scoring goals. |

A fantastic pick for that late in the 1st round. Will definitely be an NHL sniper. The small size is not a concern if there are enough bigger guys to compliment him. That is the issue we have now with the Hawks. Kane and DeBrincat are great goal scorers, but we need to add some size and grinding up front with them. You can do OK in the regular season with a "Smurfy" team...but need the size and grit, at least from a few guys, if you want to go deep in the playoffs.
I think the Habs will like Caufield in 2-3 years when he is ready. But, they also need to keep an eye on some bigger guys to compliment him as they move forward. |

Oh, and I do not like the Habs...my least favorite team. So, you can imagine how it pained me to acknowledge this good selection. Still, as a hockey move. Great pick. Now, on with the Hab bashing....bring it on Leaf fans!!! |

Is getting on all the rides gonna help them make the 2nd round in our lifetime?

Just think of all the fun we'll have when Caufield starts filling up the Leafs net!
And reminding Mr. Nutcase will be all the more fun! |
