Should have been Hall + 1st overall pick for Johnny + 26th overall + Brodie.
I was saying this WEEKS before the draft. Lets Johnny goes home and Taylor to also come home to play. Hall is at least a bigger player, and that's what we needed in the playoffs this year. - Dhall
Seems legit....no need for my stamp here

Um, what? You know that Jack Hughes was available with the first overall pick this year right? The Devils wouldn't have made that deal even if they got to keep Hall as well.

Oiler fans beaking anyone about their playoff performances when the Oilers are historically out by Thanksgiving. Priceless. |

Whoa whoa whoa ...... league MVP ..... apparently they are only worth a 2nd pairing defenseman ...... isn't that right Oilers? - buddy_doug
Yes, you’re correct. Because I’m an Oilers fan I was responsible for that trade. |

Danny Briere disagrees - Richieattack18
He had heart and went to the dirty areas. Gaudreau won’t. |

And it’s the fans fault too. Great comment. |

I would do Gaudreau and Frolik for Hall, a 1st and a 2nd in 2020 draft, contingent upon Hall signing an extension with Calgary (6 years @ 9.5/mil/year, similar deal to Mark Stone) seems reasonable. Too much more and Calgary is assuming too much risk due to his injury history. Gaudreau is the younger, more consistent player on a very very nice contract. |

Being a hockey fan for 30 some odd years has taught me not to get attached to any player on my team. That being said, even if Johnny wants to play closer to home, you don't trade him until the final year of his contract. It's too cap friendly to move with the way the pay rates are going up. In a few years 3rd line players are going to be pushing 5 plus mill a year. They can create a better balanced attack for the duration of his contract... |

Johnny hockey is on a better contract for sure, but IF Hall could stay healthy, he is 10x the play little Johnny will ever be.
Hall can carry a team (ei Hart Trophy...) |

Except that Gaudreau carried his team to Western Conference champions. If both players stay healthy for the entire year, they're pretty much equal in value. There's not really any chance Hall stays healthy for a year though.

Ahh, compare Johnny's team that made the playoffs to Hall's team.
Johnny did not carry Calgary, many had them picked to win it all.
Hall's team was pick to win the lottery.

And that is exactly what NJ did without Hall.

Johnny is a flashy, very talented little runt, but I'm not so sure he can even carry his own hockey bag. |

South Jersey is Flyers territory. Everyone knows Gadreau grew up a Flyers fan and will be taking a pay cut to play in Philly once he hits UFA. Bobby Ryan 2.0 - dorneydude
What this guy said.
There is no way he was a Devils fan
South Jersey is diehard Flyers fans. I mean neck tattoo Flyers fans
