I like me some Fast, but we straight up can't afford both. Why not just give us Buch?

You did. I can attest to this. And I was all over the Jesse train.
But you also wanted sam Bennett over Leon.

Never even planned for him to be there so I didn't look into him much until the year after. In the same position, I likely would've also fallen victim to the BPA conundrum but I definitely wanted Sergachev more. Even he's not perfect, though. Only the people who were firm on Tkachuk have any bragging rights.
- MaximumBone

I was fairly firm on Tkachuk but was also open to the idea of Sergachev (only because he was supposed to be NHL ready).

I just assumed it was either Dubois or Tkachuk, but the long shot was Sergachev since they seem real interested in him with their interviews. I hate Jarmo for passing on Poolparty.

Van was smart to not jump on that deal with the upcoming expansion draft.

We are stuck with Lucic I’m afraid I can’t see a team taking him on and I don’t want us to throw too much away in the deal either.....it will cost us yes but there are prices I wouldn’t be willing to pay.....even if Ferland goes full Lucic it’s only a 3.5 mil cap hit so it’s certainly not terrible

I've resigned myself to tolerating Lucic's spot on the roster. At least his results show someone capable of suppressing goals so he should have some applications as a 4th line guy alongside two guys whose offensive careers you're prepared to sacrifice. Add a guy like Kruger and throw Chiasson on their wing then free up the 3rd line to have some softer minutes.

If Tippett doesn’t deploy Lucic as a top 6 winger (unless a miracle happens and he finds his former self) then it won’t be as bad but given the current situation who knows.....if JP was smart he would just shut his agent up and focus on hockey and getting better....top 9 is wide open this season and even he has a chance to fit in somewhere

Wouldn't matter though because once Lucic waives his NMC then Van wouldn't have to honor it so he would just be another guy unprotected for them.

I'd be pretty excited to see how a Benson-Nuge-Puljujarvi line would look, but I think the ship has sailed on that venture. I think the subtext we're neglecting to consider in the whole Jesse debacle is that there have been a number of rumors throughout the years about McD and Drai not wanting to play with Jesse. Those in conjunction with the phrasing of the issue from his agent makes me think this is actually a "he doesn't fit in with the guys" situation.

I'm a fan of the deal made up in a thread last week wherein we sent Lucic, Puljujarvi and a sweetener to LA for Carter. I know it's not perfect, but Carter fills a need for us (offensive ability, R-shot, C w/ experience) and frees us from Lucic.

No I have taken into consideration about Connor and Leon not wanting to play with him and the same as the comment of “yes there is a new GM and coach but the team is still the same”......but I think if Jesse could come in healthy and play well then the other stuff won’t matter......I do like the idea of that second line tho.....Nuge is a pro and can help Benson along and Jesse as well.....as far as talent goes it’s a much better situation for Nuge then last season

Man saddling Nuge with 2 unproven young wingers seems like a risky deal.

True but what are the other options? Chiasson? Lucic? Haas? The speedy euro kid who’s name I forgot? ....Khaira? It doesn’t matter it will be a crap shoot regardless of who plays on the 2nd line

That right there is the problem I suppose not even close to enough proven wingers on this roster

That’s why I say it’s wide open in its current form as far as the 2nd line goes.....outside of Nuge there is nothing that is for certain.....Benson and Puju could easily find themselves in that role
