Lucic's bonus is payable on the 17th. Not the 1st.
- EdmontonLawyer

Where does this info come from?
It was just confirmed yesterday from Jason Gregor that the bonus is July 1, contrary to the rumors of it being July 17.

Lucic's money was paid on July 1st. There is no July 17th portion that we're waiting for to make him easier to trade. That's according to Jason Gregor who claims to have done some digging on the issue. Looch better be working hard on his skills this summer because we're effin stuck with him.

I wouldn't mind seeing Lucic in Montreal. It would require a bad contract going the other way to make it work. Something like this:

To Mtl: Puljujärvi and Lucic.

To Edm: Alzner, Hudon and McCarron.

Mtl gives the Oilers what they need in cap space, a defenseman and 2 cheap forwards. Mtl gets Puljujärvi to play with Domi or Kotkaniemi. Lucic can play either on the 3rd or 4th line and the PP in front of the net.

f it doesn't work out for Lucic in Mtl, since he waived his NMC he may no longer have one as a result of it being waived by previously being traded so he can either be bought out, traded or sent to the minors. His contract has bonuses till the end. It's a bad contract. Don't forget that Lucic won a cup with Claude Julien in Boston.

If it doesn't work out for Alzner in Edm, he can be bought out next year for about 1.2 M a year for 4 years. Oil would have had a cap hit of 6 M for 3 years for Lucic and would save roughly 4.8 M a year on the cap.

Of course the price for this is Puljujärvi!

Looking at some highlights he seams to have a pretty good one-timer. In this videos he actually plays similar to panarin. Ofcourse i'm well aware that this is highlights videos.

The next $3m bonus for Milan Lucic is payable July 17th. Some has reported that it was due July 1st which was not accurate. The Lucic cap hit and term are what they are.

Did you just compare Craig Johnson’s death to when Wayne “The Great One” Gretzky dies? Wayne Gretzky, one of the greatest to some and the greatest to others, to Graig Johnson? Its sad news but if Gretzky dies his birthday will become a National Holiday in Canada.

Puljujarvi is a high reward low risk move. Guy was a 1st rounder recently, and a change of scenery could do wonders. NYR should get him. Nam for him straight up

Like Ben Pouliot? Or Zack Kassian? Or Yakupov?

37 pts in 139 NHL games

37 pts in 53 AHL games

39 pts in 71 Swedish elite games

This guy has never produced at an elite level

In hindsight, was a terrible pick. Doubt he's even worth a 2nd at this point.

A comment on the Chi-BUF trade.

On paper, looks like a steal for BUF, and all the criticisms of Bowman on this one may end up being bang on.

That said, go back to 2017 when Bowman was an "idiot" and Jarmo K was a genius in the Saad-Panarin deal. And today, Bowman has Saad and Jarmo has nothing—because Bowman did, in fact, know then what Jarmo found out, that in 2019 Panarin was heading to the East Coast, preferably NYC, pretty much no matter what.

Point is, in trades like these, sometimes there's a back story that never really gets exposed until later, if ever, and the trade will end up looking quite different a couple of years out.

Quenneville liked Joki but I heard that the Hawks later saw something in terms of Joki's d-zone coverage where he was vulnerable to one side and that was part of why they sent him back down. The other thing is, RIGHT OR WRONG, the Hawks are now very high on Ian Mitchell and Adam Boqvist and both play right side (like Joki).

Schmaltz-Strome last year, another one, but again, that could end up looking better for AZ in a year or two as both players develop (or not).

Reserve judgment for at least a year or two.
