And Bowman was so shrewd with all that super-secret knowledge that he turned one of the premier wingers in the game into a retread of Brandon Saad? Stop. He should've been able to get an absolute haul for Panarin and he got a good 2nd line winger. Not about to roll out the "you're so smart" banners for that one.

I actually think we're kind of agreeing. He got what he could for Panarin when he did it, knowing he was going to leave in 2 years. And yes, Jarmo probably was willing to offer that because he also knew how unlikely it was that he would keep Panarin.
All that said, Brandon Saad is not a bad hockey player (at all) and Bowman has him at a fair price (take a look at Kevin Hayes for $7 million a year if you disagree). Jarmo has nothing.
