This dude hasn’t been right about anything
And with the amount of media around the Leafs, you mean to tell us that you’re the only one this was “quietly” leaked to?
Come on bro
And people pay for this site? Really? |

He's definitely better than Keith now!
I would guess he will never be as good as Keith was at his peak though. That's a big hill to climb. |

Agreed, but in fairness there are a lot of Leafs fans who praise every newcomer and hype them up, while also bashing the guys who leave.
I like both Gardiner and Kadri. I think JG gets far too much flak for his game 7 performances. Freddie has been no better but he doesn't get the hate.
Naz had to go after the suspension in the playoffs this year, you just can't do that to your team - especially 2 years in a row.
I fully expect him to score 30 again this year getting the 2nd line minutes he should be playing. - Kinger34
One of those game 7's was Reimer. Freddy has a bad game 7 in the first round this year and it's going to get pretty fiery.
Jakers just doesn't play well when the pressure is on. It's why he throws the puck away to an attacking player whenever he sees a hit coming. There's lots of good players who play well when it doesn't count. You don't win championships with them. |

I personally hate how teams are penalized by drafting too well. I thought this initially when Chicago had to trade talent away in order to sign Kane and Toews (2 of their own drafted players).
I think that teams should get cap relief on their own drafted players - maybe a % of the salary doesn't count against the cap...
However, most likely, players would take that cap relief and adjust their demand for more money - so no win situation. - Cooshie
This is a pretty cool idea to be honest... at least for UFAs. (not sure this would be effective for RFAs, but for UFAs it would definitely be effective).
The only problem I see with this idea is that the owners wouldn't like it, since the whole idea of a salary cap is that they don't have to spend above a certain amount of real dollars on their teams--yet this would effectively cause them to spend more than they want in real dollars.

This crap needs to stop, in all honesty.
Marner wont get $13 million, nor $12 million, nor $11 million dollar Offer sheets....
Aho, who is a comparable player (AND a Centre), was given an $8.5 Million Dollar Offer-sheet by the Habs...AND HE SIGNED IT.
Leafs, are offering between $9-$9.75 Per....which is more than enough. If Marner feels like he should get more, personally, i let him sit, until a trade is orchestrated.
Dubas made the mistake once with Nylander--so he better not make the same mistake again with Mitch. let him sit...until you find a deal that is right for your Organization. |

I don't include Rielly in the category with: Karlson, Doughty, Hedman, Burns, Letang, Suban, etc. Maybe I should watch him play more, but he doesn't seem to be at that level.
Good for the Leafs if Dermott can work out. - RedRevenge
Rielly is a #1 D. End of story. And you really think Subban is better?
I would put Rielly and Seth Jones ahead of most of those guys. |

You won't hear this one publicly, but I am told the Leafs have internally set an "end of July" deadline to come to terms with Mitch Marner...
Hahaha - yeah then what lol - same deadline as last year??
"After last year's holdout and all Kyle did to open up space we need to know this player is with us, and if he is not we need to do a whole lot to fill some even wider needs," a source close to the Leafs situation informed me this morning, "We feel we've done a lot here to show our desire to have Mitch a Leaf for life, but everyone hates not having any control."
Who would text this to Eklund - we need to know this player is with us... and if not we'd need to fill wider needs lol... then top it off with everyone hates not having control?? how professional is this... don't even think that would be a mgmt shared discussion... ridiculous.
Also, Leaf for Life? He's 22 - this is not his last contract even if max years.
I texted back, "Any progress towards a deal?"
His response, "Hard to tell. We have put out various scenarios, and we need to know which they want, shorter, longer, etc. Once we know, yes a deal can get done very quickly."
Now they need to know what they want - but don't even know that yet??? LMAO
As if comon man - whoever's making this up is abolutely brutal...
Oh and once we know what the hell is going on, then the deal can get done quickly
Good God WOW
You can't make this stuff up - oh wait, yes you can!!! |

Why Not? Rielly has already shown more offense than Keith has in any season, and led all dmen in goals with 20, without having a partner of Seabrooks pedigree. |

Rielly is far better at age 25 than Keith was at the same age. Rielly's career thus far is better. |

Im with you. I just hope he is not getting his head filled with BS by the agent or daddy. The other thing he and family to consider is he was a 4rth round pick. So not center, not a first overall, gets to play at home close to mommy and daddy, 9.75 mill. Problem is, if he is betting on himself, and says he wants only a 3 year term, do the leafs agree? |

It’s unfair to compare him to a future HOF. I’m sure he’ll have a great career but he’s far away from accomplishing anything close to what Keith has. |

Nylander's value was at it's highest 2 seasons ago. The Leafs could have traded him for a legit, young, top 4 defensemen. Instead, they tried to sign him. He played hard ball and they didn't sign him until December. He was paid 7M.
His point production diminished and so has his value. 27 points last season playing next to some of the best offensive players in a league. What a fail...
His contract then screwed up negotiations with Matthews (only on a 5 year contract seems like a mistake) and now with Marner (who knows how long he will hold out for?) - RedRevenge

There is no doubt, offensively, Rielly is already better than Keith has ever been in his career. But Keith definitely has been a more rounded Dman. Rielly still only 25yrs old so time will tell how things turnout. |

I would offer sheet Marner. If you plan on making the playoffs the next 4 to 5 yrs, your 1st round picks are going to be around the 20's. No big prospects late in the round. Well worth losing the picks for a proven player |

In the NHl it's impossible to say you'll give up late 20's picks the next 4 years. It isn't basketball. A team can add Marner and drop in the standings. Leafs dropped after adding Tavares because their backup could not win agame. So many *ifs* go into a winning season. |
