I tried moderately hard to explain said ramifications, but all I got was "who cares"

Who cares if we sign Kevin Hayes to 8Mx7years, make us better right now!

"Good teams don't have their first round picks anyway because they trade them"

Yeah, for multiple players to play on their team. It's not like they're donating picks to needy teams

I can't imagine a luxury cap league. watch the Laffs fire out a 20M x 5 year offer for Sam Reinhart.

And yes I know you're talking about offer sheets. The truth is, offer sheets are probably great for middle of the road players who excel at a facet of the game. The Ryan Kesler offer sheet was amazing.

Good teams use those picks to find good assets JER.

Unless you're the Penguins. Then, well.. enjoy the next few years, guys.

At this point, I don't have time for foreplay. Throw it in, let's get to it.

That was the retaliatory one right? That would have also been good. Great, even.

Imagine being mad about having to pay a young Ryan Kesler 1.9M

Why is this board obsessed with Iafallo? He's a third liner. He had 33 points. By comparison sabres fans whipping boys Sheary and Okposo had 34 and 29 points. Broken old Pomminville had 31.

There is no doubt he is on the block. He is destined to be a Saber. You’d think a 2026 2nd rounder should do it

Then package gergensens and a 5th for Barkov. THe becomes the 2nd linr Centre behind GMECHL. Then offer sheet Marner 7x11m. Marner loves buffalo.
Cup soon to follow.

Ah, the Bernier one was the retaliatory one.

Imagine paying 4 1st round picks for Chris Gratton.

Danton Heinen, a player who's very similar to Erod, and has had moderately more offensive success, signed a 2x2.8M deal. Per Evolving Wild's projection, they were off by 19K.

They also have Erod signing for about 2.4M for 3 years.

My guess is Erod gets 1.8x2, or 2.4x3

It's draft picks like Jokiharju that get me excited about the prospects of Ryan Johnson maybe being here in two years. Every guy is different of course. Apparently Johnson's biggest flaw now is his offense. I'd say that's pretty encouraging for a defenseman. Of course he needs about 10-15 lbs, which can definitely be obtained in the next 15 months.

Here's an extended look at him. Well written with a lot of interesting things.
https://theathletic.com/9...ollow-his-dad-to-the-nhl/

I think it's also worth noting that Botterill would have rather chose Johnson than trade the pick away.
