Didn't he make $1.55 last year? I think his average was $1.475, but last years salary was $1.55

So no raise.... Good. I still don't know what they are gonna do with all of these forwards.
- ajb2493

Girgs and Larry sitting on the 4th line for sure. No questions with the added wingers.

Need to have a plan to unload slobtka.

No, he made 1.475 avg/year over two years. Even though, I guess his last year was 1,550,000, which would match this years salary.

Edit. I mean, what you said is right.

So yes, he makes the same money as he did last year. I guess QO's are based on cap and not celery.

I don’t hate Larry on the 4th line.

Move Girgs please.

Come to think of it, neither Girgs or Larry got a raise. They make the exact same amount of money as they did last year. Wonder how that works.

Changes I would like to see.

Current club can offer max 7 year. New club max offer 5.

Opt out clauses with 2 years remaining for club, 1 year remaining for player.
This does not apply to ELCs

If player ops out goes into new bucket of exclusive rights RFA

If signed by new club, new team forfeits two first round picks or old players club choice of prospect and a 2nd rd pick.

- ImThatGuy

I like the bolder part
But the rest doesn’t work for me

I don’t like the idea of teams being given a reprieve for dumb signings
The “buyout” is enough imo

And the compensation part just flat out doesn’t work
You’d end up with guys like Girgs or Larsson, etc not getting signed by new teams bc no one would want to give up the 1sts or prospect + 2nd

Meh. I don't hate Girgs. I don't like him, and I wouldn't be sad if he was gone, but he isn't top on my please move list. That belongs to Sobotka, Okposo, Scandella.

Maybe Risto, Girgs, Scandella/Bogo for RNH and Puljarauarviairiaiaiyairiiai? There's no way that Holland does that, right? Looking at Hollands trade history, he doesn't seem to make too many player for player trades. Although, he has had some deals with Scott Wilson a couple of times... Let's throw him in there!

Wilson makes a $1m which will be covered by waiving him, and he will be waived. He's a super expensive 14th forward who will play in Rochester and be called up occasionally in case of injury

U can extend a QO to keep their rights,
but still sign them to a different contract

That's two completely different concepts.

I was under the impression that, if you offer a QO, that particular offer (the QO) included at minimum, a raise of what I thought was 10%

Here's the answer

Qualifying offers
The current team must extend a "qualifying offer" to a restricted free agent to retain negotiating rights to that player. Qualifying offers are for one year contracts. The minimum salary for the qualifying offer depends on the player's prior year salary.

Players who earned less than $660,000 in the previous season must be offered 110 percent of last season's salary. Players making up to $1 million must be offered 105 percent. Players making over $1 million must be offered 100 percent.

If the qualifying offer is not made, the player becomes an unrestricted free agent.
If the player rejects a qualifying offer, he remains a restricted free agent.
If the player does not sign before December 1, he is ineligible to play in the NHL for the remainder of the season.

So if you make over 1M, your QO is the exact salary you made the previous season.

I think that it doesn’t always include the raise
There’s exceptions based on age & time spent in the league i think

But also...
when u “qualify” someone, all that really does is keep the players rights while u negotiate a contract with them
It doesn’t mean the player can only sign that QO

Which means, if Erod signs his QO (He won't, or absolutely shouldn't) he'd make $715,000 for 1 year.
