2 way contracts are completely irrelevant to the NHL cap. They just dictate what a player gets paid in the AHL. Otherwise, your point is accurate, you can send down a waiver exempt player and call up/keep a minimum salary player to play cap games. You have to have 23 players at the start of the season. Buried players still count towards the cap, but something like 1.1m less.

There's a strange art to having the right amount of salary to maximize the relief pool.

- Lunaion

Is that true?
I thought 23 was the limit, but you didn’t have to have that many

Serious question
What is the expected return for Risto straight-up.
A top 6 F?
So anywhere from say 45 pts and up?

Where's the line to differentiate a decent return and a below average return?
I'm going 50 - 65 pts

- IonSabres

second line center that is young, proven 40-45 point player with upside

or a 55 point winger with upside

That is in line with my thought..the age & upside allow for an adjustment to the "fair" equation.

If we use that, then If Bott's price on Risto is HIGH (more than above average), we turn that crank up quite a bit ...so, again depending on age and position, we are looking at
- a young 2C at about 60 pts
- a winger in the 65 - 70 range

Just bc we have an extra RH defenseman now,
doesn’t mean I’m willing to give him up cheap

If we can’t get a “core” piece back for Risto,
then I’d probably keep him
Even if that means starting Joker in Rochester

The demand for RH top4 defensemen isn’t gonna go away
So if we have to wait to get the return we want,
then that’s what we should do

Ralph is a visionary.. he is going to play school yard hockey and just throw 5 guys out there regardless of position and let them free ball it

Just looking at WPG, and the need they have at D, I feel it will be Risto to WPG.

They seem like the most obvious trade partner

A forward at 45 points or a dman (Risto) at 45 points. I’ll keep Risto,
I’d need a forward with the potential to get 65-70 points

Tampa is a bit different in quality of life than raleigh or charotte or wherever they play + buffalo isn’t the closest city to Tyler’s hometown as it is skinners but I suppose anything is possible

That is the question, what is fair value.
We have proposed a Top 6 player, something like:
- young 2C at 40+ points with upside
- established 55pt winger

He will be 29 years old

But as far as point totals I think he fits the bill but he has a full NTC
