Unfortunately, Seabrook had to babysit AHL Dman partners since then...and it didnt help his cause

It's also interesting to watch the game knowing what happened, and what has happened since, I notice that Jammer was on for every defensive face-off in the third period, whether he was paired with Keith or Oduya.

Connor Murphy looks like Opie Taylor

They also use his forehead to run the team's video clips.

Edit - on second look that could be an alternating crew.

Canadiens agree to terms on a 2-year contract with forward Artturi Lehkonen (AAV of $2.4 million).

Both Perlini and Anisimov are listed for the Hawks Convention. Pretty interesting, especially that Perlini is listed and unsigned.

You would think Nylanders kid would want to get off on the right foot and show up at this thing or is he just not listed?

Jokiharju posted a message on Instagram about the trade. It's no surprise that Ian Mitchell liked it!

Not sure. But he is going to Prospects Camp I believe which I'd rate higher.

But how could the FO be sure of anything like that? Certainly (I would think) they would think that a change of scenary MIGHT / could possibly / maybe motivate him into fulfilling his prophecy.

I would think (again) that they maybe saw a player they had who might have been good but was in the middle of a deep prospect pool at one position (Jokiharju at defenseman) and that they had a weak prospect pool at the other (forward) and went for the move.

They may have made the wrong deal - but for all of the talk about how Jokiharju should have brought back a bigger return - they moved one player with potential who hasn't yet proved anything (other than he could be an OK player pairing with Keith) for another with potential who hasn't yet proved anything.

I can't say I like this deal yet - but I'm more mellow about it than I was on Tuesday afternoon.

Sage, they don't know if Nylander will go into stretches of disinterest they simply don't care. He checks the most important box for this FO and that is skill. They will deal with any shortcomings as long as the player is skilled. Boqvist or Dobson, TT or Fabri? .............

Kane way back had long periods of disinterest, TT was invisible for long stretches, Saad, Bickell, Schmaltz, Panarin, Leddy, Panik. The common denominator of these players is skill, lotta skill and they won cups with players disinterested for stretches.

And for many NHL types Joki has proven plenty as a 19 yr old in the NHL putting up solid fancies, has won a U-20 Gold, U-18 Gold and WC Gold and is 20yrs old.

I really liked Tyler's original take on this trade, complete confusion. I'm still in that state but read somewhere that they wonder if the Hawks are guilty of hubris after seemingly turning Strome around and think they can do that again. ..... Makes the most sense to me. Sure Nylander may end up helpful but that does not mean the risk taken was worth it.

As far as asset management goes I think they botched this either way. Just way too much risk taken for what most think is a steady top 4 Dman who is a right shot, the most coveted asset in all of hockey save for a #1-2D or #1C.

How bout they used Joki as a sweetener to move Seabs' hideous contract and the cap space cleared trade for a Gusev or Tuch who are proven and will help now? Get creative like Dubas did while in cap hell ends up with a #1 PP RS Dman and the other guy assumes half the contract? ........ They know their trading Joki, why not draft Byram and move Joki for Tuch, Gusev, Kadri, Galchenyuk?

I could type 7 more paragraphs but it for me it boils down to the Hawks think Joki is not a top 4, they have guys coming who are, they like some combo of DeHaan, Maatta, Murphy to work the kids in along with Keith, think they can turn around a kid who is universally known as a lazy, soft, perimeter player who is skilled.

Kurashev, Hakkarainen and Entwistle all appear to be somewhere between the age of 12 and 13.

Something that is a very positive right now in Blackhswks-land.. the GM and Coach talk (a lot!) and from what I've heard are on the same page.

This means Colliton has been instrumental in having a voice in these moves.

It doesn't all fall on the coach and these moves are a group effort (Stan, coaching staff, scouts, etcs) and what I'm happy about is that there is a gameplan on where these additions fit on the team.

It was obvious and well-documented that Stan and Q didn't see eye-to-eye on all moves. I would wager that Joel lost a bit of a seat at the table in that regard the last few years.

Evidence of the Hammer and Panarin trades. Daley being misused, and the list goes on.

If given the right pieces, I'm confident that Colliton will put these guys in the right position to succeed based on how closely he and Stan have been working together this offseason.

- Tyler Cameron

Can't be over estimated how much this means. Couple that with a unified on and off ice group that has an agreed upon plan with a full camp for the coach there is a lot to be excited about. Not just if all this works this is Stan's baby, his coach, his personnel on and off the ice and if it fails no Q to blame.......... I'd guess if they miss the playoffs he should be held to account.

Last time I looked at the Hawks site to look at my invoice there were partial game plans, 5 and 10 game plans. Been 10 yrs since they had partial plans. Stan is costing Rocky money.

That is 100% true, never even thought about that. Here’s hoping this kid turns it around, hopefully they surround him with enough guys to put their foot in his ass if he needs it. And knock out that sense of entitlement that was apparently attached to him during his time with the Buffalo organization. Chris Chelios Would be a good start.

Revisionist history is easy when you either don't know or don't consider all the facts.

There were 3 "power forwards" up for new contracts in the summer of 2013 and the $4M x 4 years deal Stan gave Bickell was the best deal of the bunch - the other two guys got more than Bickell did. Regardless of your opinion that Bickell wasn't worth that contract - the market said he was. Stan was faced with either paying market value for a player who had just been the second highest scorer on the Cup winning team or watching him walk for nothing. The decision he made to sign Bickell was the correct decision at the time given the circumstances.

It's unfortunate how it worked out - but those are the facts. It's fashionable to bash Stan, and it's not totally unwarranted, but at least be knowledgeable and honest in doing so.

Context! ............ And I will never ever ever ever forget the alligator arms the ultra skilled TT played with too many times. Couple yrs later TT seems ok but by the time he was sent to CAR I was ok with it and was a huge TT guy from his jr days.

Minus Seabs money, replace it with a mil player to be a 9th man what's that leave them?

Maybe if Stan got Benning drunk he would do it, what other team that Seabs would possibly waive has the cap space?

Beginning of the offseason? Carolina, BUF, DET, ANA, CLB to name a few. ...... How was Dubas gonna navigate hell? How was Stevie Y gonna navigate hell? How is McPhee navigating hell. How did Wilson handle hell and sign Karlsson?

Questions pros can answer that message board fans and writers/bloggers can't.

Might be right. Gonna be interesting to see how the Hawks and Seabs handle this situation 2-3-4 yrs from now when the poor guy can't hop over the boards. Maybe a new GM with zero loyalty has ideas?

CC, Keith and Gus all not on the convention attendee list....

Hmmm

- Return of the Roar

Keith and Seabs seem to be trading off every other year attending and not attending. Corey is getting married around the time of the convention, I believe.
