But I thought Keith sucks, is selfish and is only capable of shooting into shin pads? Hmm - PatShart
I just watched YouTube videos of EVERY goal the Hawks scored in their playoff runs. This one is from 2015, and Duncan Keith was finding twine OFTEN
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td13zKyA1Z8
There are the same kinds of videos for 2013 & 2010....Watching those highlights I think we all need to have a bit more appreciation for Patrick Sharp. I still rock his 2013 Cup Crested #10 Red, but I was reminded how Elite of a player Sharpie was. Everyone correctly acknowledges Hossa, Kane, and Toews as Superstars during those runs, but Sharp was just as Elite with the goals he scored. Top 4 Forwards and Top 3 D they had.....what a CORE. All 7 of them during those Cup runs were absolute studs.
EDIT: man did they pull some CRUCIAL wins out their asses! legendary! |

Can't be over estimated how much this means. Couple that with a unified on and off ice group that has an agreed upon plan with a full camp for the coach there is a lot to be excited about. Not just if all this works this is Stan's baby, his coach, his personnel on and off the ice and if it fails no Q to blame.......... I'd guess if they miss the playoffs he should be held to account.
Last time I looked at the Hawks site to look at my invoice there were partial game plans, 5 and 10 game plans. Been 10 yrs since they had partial plans. Stan is costing Rocky money. - Mr Ricochet
I must have received 50 emails about those ticket packages. One silver lining, it has the potential (like the losing and reduced resale did over past couple years) of building up the fanbase by bringing in different people. |

Nice. Ya I could put something together like that. - Tyler Cameron
Looking at the cap, how do the Hawks sign Debrincat and Strome without losing at least 2 of Saad, AA and Murphy? $12.5 million will be gone with the goalies and Gus but at least $1 million back with Delia as back up and if Lehner is the starter, it will be more than 6 mil, so that is already halfway to 2/3 used up next year.
If it takes 10-12 mil for Cat and Strome, then Saad's $6 mil cap hit looks good to go. |

And when Dale traded for him, look at his first couple of years in the league, he was just a "guy".

A few pages ago, you guys and gals were talking about Dominik Kubalik being the wildcard this season... I couldn't agree more.
Watch this when you have 6 mins:
https://youtu.be/rXAov44-4Ow
I understand it is the Swiss League but his shot and finishing ability is on serious display here.
This tells me:
* he's a RW (deadly one-timer on his off-side) ... not a LW
* he is big and not afraid to go to the net
* should be a primary shooter on that RW with at least one strong playmaker on his line
I'm not sure who that is (Kahun would have been great) but if you put Kubalik on a 3rd line the Hawks may have just found a nice secondary scoring option when the big guns go cold.
You also have 3x triggermen on separate lines with Kane (L1), DeBrincat (L2) and Kubalik (L3).
This is all dependent on Kubalik adjusting back to a NA game and starting strong but boy do i sure like his chances. |

Beginning of the offseason? Carolina, BUF, DET, ANA, CLB to name a few. ...... How was Dubas gonna navigate hell? How was Stevie Y gonna navigate hell? How is McPhee navigating hell. How did Wilson handle hell and sign Karlsson?

Didn't know that not only does the top scorer get a special jersey, but also wears a different helmet color.

Whats the cap next year? Seeing as how that doesnt even get announced yet for another year...shouldn't we wait until that's announced?
And what kind of year did Strome have this season? Did he improve or regress? Same with ADB? Did they make the playoffs this year based on those 2?
Shouldnt that factor in before handing them big contracts?

He looked REALLY good in the World Championships...8th in Tourney Scoring with 12 points (6G, 6A) in 10 games played (28 SOG and +10 too). IMO he will be better than Kahun in his rookie year. Bigger and better straight line speed with a laser release.

Now that the Blackhawks have traded Jokiharju, Mitchell should benefit — though whether that’s in the present or the future is yet to be determined. According to a source, Mitchell and the Blackhawks will talk next week at development camp about where he fits into their defensive landscape and whether he might reconsider turning pro for the upcoming season. |

More from Powers:
Now for some other notes.
1. As for Boqvist, it’s sounding more likely he starts next season in the AHL rather than returning to the OHL. The London Knights recently announced two defensemen signings, and some believe it’s an indication Boqvist isn’t returning.
2. The Blackhawks and Brendan Perlini are supposed to continue negotiations next week, according to a source. The two sides haven’t talked much so far. |

"By the numbers: A look at the 10 worst contracts in hockey"
1. Brent Seabrook, CHI
Contract: $6.875M x five years
Surplus Value: -$33.2M
Positive Value Probability: 0.1%
"The biggest shock to me was not that Seabrook ended up number one (anybody could’ve guessed that) it’s that there are still five years left on his deal. Five! At $6.875 million. For a replacement-level defenseman. Who is 34-years-old. I’m not sure how any of that is possible, and I’m not even sure how probable it is that Seabrook actually finishes the remainder of the deal in the NHL.
For that price, a team should be getting a capable number two defenseman, and I’m struggling to remember the last year Seabrook actually offered that kind of value. Very few players carry a worse defensive impact than Seabrook and he doesn’t provide much more in the way of offence either. The probability of Seabrook providing positive value on this deal says it all: 999 times out of 1,000, he doesn’t." |

In my case you're preaching to the choir. I think Saad is gone before his NTC kicks in July 1, 2020.
Don't think Murphy will be gone either. Remember in two summers Hawks have to expose a D in the draft who is under contract for 21/22. Right now Keith, Seabs, Murphy , Maatta, DeHaan fit the bill. Assuming 2 and 7 don't waive their NMC, two of the latter 3 will be exposed and one possibly lost. If Murphy moved before hand, two of the veteran "younger" defenseman will be lost. Don't think in a couple of years the Hawks will want to depend on two aging defensemen Keith and Seabs, and 3 or 4 newbies.

Seems like there isn’t a place for him here this season - even if he were ready for The Show - and isn’t he going to captain his pretty good U of D team?
I would guess (only guess) that he remains a Pioneer this year. |

I think part of stan's plan in bringing players back is partly ego driven. Chemistry can be part of it, but I think he wants to keep guys he's drafted in the system. After all the talk from the first cup being inherited, he's scarred for life. - ge1002

Simple solution - Seabrok retires as a player and gets hired as an assistant coach at $6.875M for 5 years. Bettman will never figure it out. |

I'm thinking Mitchell signs a contract at some point in 2020 and joins the team in April when his season in Denver is over. |
