I would have preferred Hexy stayed.

My opinion on why he is not

We know Hextall knew about the goalie issue, we know he knew about the center issue, i believe 100% he tried to address them but he didn’t. I am sure the price was too high for hextall and where he thought the team was. Then you have his relationship going up the ladder and with alumni. There was an article where Roberts is it, commented on a meeting that fletcher was having, that is had all leaders working together and how he had not seen that in 6 years. Right or wrong that is telling on how he and Hextalls relationship stood.

I think Hextall always tried to make the right moves to help the on ice team, for whatever reason he couldn’t, this is a results business. He could not make the moves, they were losing again and he didn’t have the confidence or a good relationship with leadership.

Nuevy, no center, bad relationships, not winning, when you break them down in their own, he doesn’t get fired. When you look at them in total, he does.

I would of have fired him but to say there was no case to fire him, is not correct, in my opinion.

I try to look at it from purely a hockey standpoint. I don't see a case. I also think that you brought in Hextall to make changes to how the team was run. Why did they do that? Because they knew the old approach wasn't working. Then you balk at the changes made? Why would Hextall, who was brought in to change the direction of the team, take counsel from the old regime and the old viewpoint? That would be completely counter-productive to changing the actual course of the team and objective that he was brought in for. I think Hextall did so because he was getting kick back and he was steadfast in his vision. They knew who they hired and what he was going to do. He said what he was going to do and never wavered.

There is a case on both sides. There was always going to be a time when it was time to take a risk and step forward. Hextall didn’t believe it was time, they did. I’m sure Hextall will be even a better GM, next time around

I believe that Hextall was on course to building a special hockey team. That may still happen but I have less faith in the current management especially Scott. With the many concerning statements that he has made even as recently as in the last few days.

I think we’re and are stacked, time will tell with Scott. I agree with you fletcher had a mandate, probably why he overpaid somewhat.

I do like his moves, Let’s hope they work
