The Penguins should trade Letang, the team can clearly win a Cup without him.

Cant quote but Doogs has it right. He broke his damn leg and came back in the heat of the playoff hunt. Last years numbers mean nothing to me.
I don't want to give him a huge contract but if you could get him for the same cap hit for 3-4 years I'd do it.
He might go for it too. Look at Gardiner... everyone thought he was getting a 7x7 deal right out of the gates but 10 days later hes still there. - MacPatty
It isn't so much just about last year. RW pointed out, as have I an others, that h wasn't that great the year before either, though certainly much better than this year and with his offense he makes up for it. He ad that on huge year, but mostly he's a good offensive player, whose overall effectiveness is tied to who he pays with.
He's setting up for an expensive long-term deal that will take him deep into his 30s. |

Well they did... with one of the highest PDOs for a cup win... so not the dumbest. Plus a super old dumb line. |

Quotes aren’t working for me, but...
According to cap friendly, Shattenkirk has a NMC until July 1st 2021. If he agreed to waive that for the expansion draft, I’d definitely be talking to the rangers about a deal with 40-50% salary retained. Also would only work if JR had a deal to send Johnson and/or Gudbransson far away. I’m assuming the rangers would much rather retain 50% salary rather than 1.4 mil this year and 6 mil next year, plus an additional 1.4 for 2 years after. - drummer829
I believe he would have to waive a NMC to leave NY and then the team decides if they want to honor it moving forward. Think that's how Subban lost his by getting traded before it kicked in. |

If you think about it we still never replaced what Cole was doing for us on the left side.. Petts has been a great get, but he’s not on Cole’s level especially come playoff time - WSCTeton17
I've been a Pettersson supporter. The one thing I know Cole could do that I'm not sure with Pettersson is play well in front of his net. JJ and Gudbranson handled that (Gudbranson much more effectively) Schultz can't. Eventually everyone gets pinned in a bit and then it matters if you let your goalie see the puck.
I agree with what you guys have been saying, they've low key struggled to replace Cole as a guy who can play net front and PK while not having the possession die on his stick. I think Hunwick, maybe Oleksiak, JJ, and Gudbranson were really all about trying to fill Cole's role.
It's amazing all the bad moves they've made trying to replace Cole and Bonino. |

I always thought the blocking the puck with your stick or body so that your goalie doesn't have to see the puck was good...but apparently, blocking a shot (or throwing a body check) makes you a bad player nowadays. |

Ha I know. I get why people make that generalization: there are a lot of bad hockey players who people point to their hits and blocks as proof they offer something. But there are also guys like Kunitz who always have a ton of hits AND good possession stats.
It's almost like we should let the possession stats speak for themselves and not use hits and blocked shots to determine how much time a guy spends without the puck. |

You are mistaken. Subban’s NMC hadn’t kicked in yet so Nashville didn’t have to honor it. Once it kicks in you can’t get around it unless MAYBE the team and player can mutually agree to terminate that clause |

I was also referring to his willingness to block shots, stand up to anybody, etc. The dude sacrificed everything for this team. He would always take the hit to make the play which Petts wasn’t willing to do in the Islander series, that can always change |
