I don’t think that’s an actual possibility. There’s a little thing called the CBA, and I’m pretty sure the NHLPA would have something to say about voiding a contract to sign a lower value contract, and I’m pretty sure the NHL would have something to say about circumventing the salary cap.

That's not the point, but yes, I'm certain there are other GM's that would sign him.

The point is, that the league and NHLPA wouldn't allow teams and players to terminate a contract as a means to getting out from a #cap space issue.
