I’m saying it doesn’t matter who his center is, he’s going to be 75+ points regardless. |
|

They paid him 11.6 million dollars...Zib is the best center...they are playing the most minutes of the forwards, that’s a guarantee. To do that they play with each other. Just watch and enjoy the red lights lighting up on a nightly basis.
I could see them being split up on the PP, both being RH and all. They are going to have two very good PP units if they did that - Slimtj100
If both lines are playing equal minutes what does it matter? 1A/1B. If we’re down late in a game put them together, similar to what PITT does when they’re down with Malkin and Crosby |

And the PP QB with Shattenkirk on the backend... - evitageN
The one thing that’s an issue is they don’t really have a true offensive LH dman right now, Sjkei i guess would be good there but I see so many other better offensive options then him.
Fox DA and Shatty should all get PP time at the pernt |

some reports out there that Columbus has been team talking to Marner about offer sheet |
|
|
|
Let’s switch up the topic, where does Namestnikov go and for what? EDM desperately needs help up front and could use a guy like him, MINN needs some middle of the lineup help and has a ton of cap room, NSH has been looking to aquire a winger but I think they want someone that could make more of an impact, CBJ need help but I think they’ll be in tank mode this year so I doubt they’d be willing to give up picks that they don’t have. Bunch of teams that might have wanted him are right up against the cap, only other possibility I think is OTT as a cap dump. |

Bc I have a different opinion that I’ve explained my reasoning for? We’ll see what happens. Im not arguing this just to argue it, I truly believe we’re a deeper/harder team to matchup against with Panarin and Zib split up. |

I didn’t realize they only have 3 million in cap space! Wowwww, they need to clear about 10 million. |

I can understand what your saying if we had zero talent for a second line..but we do have talent to make a up a solid second scoring line. Have one great scoring line and then a second scoring line. Even line 3 will be good
The first line with Zib Panarin and one of the kids would be dominant, it just would be. Maximize the best players you have
I just think you’re over analyzing it. The best teams in the league generally have their best two options together, at least two and sometimes all 3 are the best. Ala Colorado and Boston |

Our 2nd line would look something like this:
Kreider Strome Buch
50/40/45. Not very intimidating if you ask me. Kreider/Buch and Strome aren’t the type of guys that make their linemates better, they’re all good players, but Zib and Panarin are the only 2 that make their linemates better. |

That would seem to be a very bad idea for them. I know they have all their 1sts for the time being, but especially the last draft they got nothing. You'd run the risk of gutting the farm system way worse than we ever did. Let alone they are not a destination for college free agents like we are to cancel some of that out. |

That's exactly what Slim and I are talking about when we want to go out and get a better 2C. Strome isn't a bad player, but he's not going to move the needle at 2C. It's also why as an internal option I'd rather have Names as 2C. We could put him with Kakko or Kravstov and at least he's shown the ability to put up good numbers with good players. |

I don't imagine that Marner would even sign an offer sheet there unless they offered him something crazy like $13M. Why would you want to go to a team that has pretty much nobody and no picks/prospects to build around after all they gave up this year at the deadline? He can make up for the difference in salary in endorsements by playing for Toronto |

Namestnikov has worse numbers than Strome. Who are you going to give up picks/prospects for that’s going to be significantly better than Strome? The only thing I can see that makes sense is Kreider for Granlund. Both UFA after the season. |

I wonder if they are planning some kind of monster trade and causing all this boredom
Centering around Kreider and Deangelo for a center. I don’t think they can move Shatty with out it being bad money coming back
Although, maybe Gardiner signing would have a team looking for a d that missed on him. Like he’s weighing two offers.
Shatty has this clause too that makes even harder |

I know its hard, but we just have to be patient! Gorton has had a helluva run here since the off-season started, he's not finished yet. Just have to trust the process...

Very possible. I read somewhere CHI/BUF we’re talking about Jokiharju/Nylander for weeks before they actually made the trade. I don’t get why we would trade DeAngelo when we know Shattenkirk sucks and Fox hasn’t even played an NHL game yet.
I still like the Kreider for Granlund idea if we’re trading Kreider. 1 for 1, both UFA at the end of the year, they need help on the wing, we don’t need, but could use a center.
They have Duchene/Johansen/Turris/Bonino/Granlund down the middle. |

Would be a pretty good trade, but it won’t work with our cap situation. We are trying to shed cap, this increases it.

Increases it by 1 million, I was thinking we could add Namestnikov and see if they would throw in a 3rd/4th which would have us shedding about 3 million. |
