For the life of me, I can't understand why they didn't front-load Ceci's contract, so that they could dump him if he sucks in October. - Atomic Wedgie
To be fair there is a lot we as fans don’t understand about the salary cap and contracts.
They spend a lot of money on guys who figure that stuff out so I highly doubt they didn’t do it because they forgot. |

protecting dermott and kerfoot? i dunno about that. - Bob_Zuruncle
This is a big year for Dermott.
If he doesn’t improve much again he could very well be a guy they expose. |

While max may go overboard in his love for Hyman, to me he's a player who is defying normal trends, and actually improving every year. I can see him having a Darcy Tucker career minus the craziness. I'd protect him... and trade him before he hits 33. |

The injury doesn't help at all.
I wonder what our top 6 will be while he is out.

He might be too expensive to retain.
Like you said you would trade him by 33. Why? Because those types of players fall down fast.
And for that reason he will want to cash in when he’s UFA. |

I’m still not confident Dermott can handle top 4 mins. He couldn’t last year he struggled.
We need a big year out of him.
Or not. We could use the cheap contract. |

True. How old will he be when he's ufa.. too lazy to check. I definitely don't extend him for big dollars. |

I'm still a believer in sandin making this team. I know babs wanted to this past season, but thought it was too much for a 18 yo to handle. |

I think 27/28
It’ll likely be the last bit contract for him. Cash in while you can. |

Almost no chance Sandin makes the Leafs to start next year unless he has an insane off season and improves greatly.
Liljegren has a decent shot at making the Leafs, though. Would've got a few games last year, had he not had multiple high ankle sprains. |

Sandin was ahead of liljegren throughout last season....and he was also on the call up list but was hurt. He was pretty much on the Marlies top pairing. |

In points, yeah. Liljegren was better at everything else and his pairing was always the top pair. Sometimes that included Sandin.
Sandin will almost certainly get more points than Liljegren, though. |

I'm still convinced that Bergevin knew he was wasting his time.
It was PR to have the fans think he's working hard to improve the roster. - Atomic Wedgie
I give him a modicum of respect for doing something nobody ever does.
As well, he saw a cheap owner and took a real small chance he wouldnt pay 21 million to a player in 12 months. Worth the try. |
