Every once in a while I like to have a gander over the fence and see what's up at HF Boards.
Wow.
Big thread on Barrie has the local loonies chiming in about "reselling Barrie and Muzzin this year for picks and trying to find a dman with term" and resigning Gardiner.
Start another rebuild. Cool. |

I think that's everyone's sane idea.
Window is closed. Shut it down. Trade everyone for picks. Now. Right. Now.
Del Zotto signs with ANA for $750K. Wouldn't have minded that as a 5/6/7 option. |

HFBoards is special. They always want to trade guys on expiring contracts for "Picks", even when Leafs have one of the top records.

Some people won't think the Leafs can win until they coast to the President's Trophy and no one else is even close. You know, like Tampa did. |

And then lose in the playoffs?
Leafs could very well become one of those teams that smashes teams in the regular season and then routinely loses in the playoffs.
Washington did it for 10 years. |

8 x 8 for an offensive defenseman?
Hard pass.
Already have Rielly (who will command his own big pay day soon enough). |

Not a chance in hell he takes only 500K more than Tyler Myers.
There's a good chance he'll be the #1 RHD that makes it to market.
It's Barrie, Pietrangelo and Schultz. And Pietrangelo probably doesn't make it to market.
That guy is worth 8 x 8. |

(frank) Uncle Dennis, LeVar Ball and Paul Marner. They are putting their own interests ahead of the phenomenally talented family members that they are supposed to protect by offering flawed and biased advice. Instead they live vicariously through them, but hurt more than they help.
Shady Ka-Lie and SubMariner should have be been signed to stay in TO.

“So what happened is they had a deal in place and they wanted me to move my no-trade clause,” Kadri told co-hosts Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek. “But you know, obviously, for me, it was no disrespect to Calgary or the Flames organization. I love their team and I love the direction they’re headed. I just figured that had I declined, I would have had a better opportunity of being a Maple Leaf next year and that’s really what it came down to. I wanted to play for the Leafs next year. I wanted to be a part of that. In declining that trade I had aspirations of being a Leaf and we know clearly that didn’t happen."
Kadri wanted to be a Leaf for life. Whatever people say about what he did or whatever, the dude really cared, and was treated pretty poopty by Wilson and those Richards. I hope he does really well in Colorado. |

You can lose 12 playoff games and still win the Cup. Blues went 16-10. |

you have to admit that losing 4 out of 4 times in first round playoffs as most recent track record of Leafs doesn't really help your argument..
I would agree that this team still needs some changes (said so last years as well) to be competitive in the playoffs. it's not necessarily the team with the best players that win Stanley Cups - it's the teams that have players form the best collective team group that win.
Last playoffs, best players that performed best vs Boston included Hainsey, Brown (with Nylander, Johnsson and a few other 'top players' making 0 impact). |

Dont see them affording him with Rielly and Andersen coming up in a couple years.
Especially since I read the PA may keep the cap down again next year.
