Very good deal. He's going to get a huge raise after those two years. Jordan is foreal!

Great news, I think after the first year of the contract, Armstrong has to approach Binnington's agent about a long term deal so he does not become a UFA. I have deep concerns that Seattle would offer him the same type of contract as Bob got in Florida to build their expansion team with.

Might be a little early to start worrying about a team offering him a 7x$10m contract. Goalies come out of nowhere all the time and have a great season only to regress back to average afterward. Not that I think this will happen with Binnington, per se, but he will have to post some incredible numbers to get to the point of what Bobrovsky has done.

Got to see way more than 33 games from him to ever offer term. Term and big money for goalies is a dangerous sport. Since the salary cap era I believe there has only been one goalie with consistency enough to warrent it and he got it at a dangerous age-Henrik Lundqvist. Goalies close to him have been Holtby and Crawford. You could almost include Quick in the argument. Quick has been mostly an average goalie in his regular seasons in front of what was a great defensive team and great in the play offs. One other mention might be Raask. Even among these goalies there have been injury issues, inconsistent seasons and not a lot of teams willing to take on the risk of big contracts.

Gibson looks worthy, but look at what happens when you over rely on a goalie and over play him. Will he be the same?

Look at Murray--his play fluctuates greatly as he deals with injuries. Boborovsky had mostly a terrible season until the end. Varlamov was great then had an injury, battles back in play, gets injured repeat season after season until his numbers start drifting.

Binnington has played great....so far. There some big time holes in his game. Can the team protect against those? Can he adapt?

With the draft coming up this is an awesome contract bc it looks like Armstrong is setting it up so a goalie will be taken.

If I'm the Blues though, I'm look hard at Colton Ellis. That kid has something. A few minor flaws but nothing that can't be fixed.
