Trade Eakin to Chicago for nothing of value in return.

Jeff Paul: Golden Knights To-Do List

When you guys entered the expansion draft, I was amazed of all the picks and prospects you guys had accumulated. The success of this team caused you to add rather than sell, and now you are an over capped team that lacks some youth. I feel the Devs could bring you a ton of balance.

You have 3 fantastic RW's and need one of them to be off the books. So:

To NJD: Tuch, Reaves (7.5M AAV off the books)

To Vegas: Vatanen and Wood both 50% retained (cap hit 3.81M AAV for the pair)

Gives you a #2RD this season on the cheap, and Wood is a solid bottom 6 LW on the cheap as well. Plus it Free's up about 3.7M AAV to work on signing Gusev.

It would give the knights the best top 6 Wingers in the league.

Hall Smith Marchy
Parioretty Stats Stone
Nosek Karlsson Glass
Pirri Eakin Kolesar

While Taylor Hall is intriguing, his contract is expiring and Alex Tuch is viewed as a future superstar.

He, Shea Theodore, and maybe Marchessault are the only true untouchables on the roster, IMO.

Tuch is basically untouchable. Best value contract in the league and its long term

The big mistake McPhee did was the whole "Picks for Tatar, Package Tatar with more picks and Suzuki for Pacioretti and retain $$ on Tatar, then give Patches 7 million per" trade tree

It thinned the cupboard and cost the team capspace

If that could be undone, package the Patches assets and use that to get Stone. Then you'd still have Brannstrom on an ELC to play Defense and you'd have capspace to sign Gusev to have in place of Pacioretti
