Overhardt would never allow his client to sign a 3-4 year deal at a reasonable amount so let’s just nip this in the bud that the Jets are responsible for not getting him signed to that type of deal right now.

With Overhardt as Copp's agent the Jets should look to trade him before the end of this contract as he'll probably pull a Trouba on them.

Yes, with Overcharge as his agent, it is time to cut bait. Too bad because Copp is a very useful, valuable and popular (in my case) member of the Jets.

Good kid, but what ya gonna do? Don't draft any of Overcharge's clients?

Good luck to the NYR! $8 mill a season for Jacob - for 7 seasons? Wow!

Wait till they see a speedy Fwd go around Jacob to his right! They'll be sorry! How many games per season? Maybe Rangers trade for Zach?

Keep hearing Laine's name in the rumour mill. I look at him the same way I look at Marner. Set the price internally that you believe they are worth. Don't go over it. Both players will bring in a nice haul via a trade. What is the hangup? I honestly think the Jets would survive quite nicely without him. They did last season for long stretches when he lost interest.

The Jets were below .500 for half the season, and surviving on shooting luck and goaltending for the other half

Trading an asset for Ristolainen when he was the worst D in the entire league last year and Poolman would have to play with a broken arm and leg to be as bad is a fireable, chirelli type move.

I like Copp, but at 1.75M AAV max. He is NOT a #2C in this league. At least not on any contender. I was a huge fan of the Tanev Lowry Copp line, but that was when they combined for 4M AAV. If Copp is that far off on negotiations, he should be traded. Lets not forget we have the far more dynamic Raslovic, as well as Little's big extension just beginning. No need to overspend on a guy who is realistically a bottom 6 forward.

Copp can, and should, be the Jets 2C. In this league. As it would help us be more of a contender.

He was easily a 2C last season, and the numbers show it. All he needs is the icetime to keep doing good things, and the linemates to feed.

As a side note, I can’t believe the Jets let this go to arbitration. Copp filed at less than what I was expecting him to eventually sign for, and that was the high end! I would give him Compher’s deal in a heartbeat

We’re now paying 7.3mil for the worst defensive player in the NHL and the corpse of Dmitry Kulikov.

Go Jets Go.
