Who won the Neal/Lucic trade?

Canucks, Ducks, Kings, Sharks, Golden Knight, Coyotes, Jets, Blues, Predators, Avalanche, Blackhawks, Stars, Wild.

Now there are only 13 teams competing for 8 playoff spots instead of 15.

Oilers lose. Again. For like the hundredth trade in a row

Lucic is useful even when he’s not scoring. Neal is not, and he’s getting rapidly worse l

Neals shooting% went down from his career average (around 10) to 5. He can easily get that back up and get 20 goals again.

Tanner, do you often make assumptions based on shortsighted results?

Lol Tanner you are one of the only people I’ve seen poopting on Holland for this trade. Neal is a better buy out option, had the greater potential to bounce back, and if nothing else, the oilers move a player they would of had to protect in the expansion draft. Both are declining players on bad contracts, but if I had to choose one I’d take Neal every day of the week

Who won the Neal/Lucic trade? Every other team that didn't get involved.

Oilers.

Holland has set up a situation where the worst case scenario is that he effectively spent a conditional 3rd on a half cap-retained Lucic trade (but ~500k cheaper). Is there any team in the league that would've taken on 3mil for 4 years for a conditional 3rd? Nope.

Neither team really won. They swapped terrible contracts. If anything, the Oilers win by taking out the trash. Lucic is fake tough-guy and cheap-shot artist. He shouldn't be allowed to play in the NHL.

People who look at corsi stats and then proceed to refer to Lucic as a plus defender are truly dumber than a sack of hammers and should be banned from (ab)using the fine tools of mathematics, probability and statistics to justify their preconceived biases.

Tanner is a complete clown. Scroll through some of the comments on anything he writes and it’s hard to believe he has the self-esteem to continue writing. In fact, take a look at what some other amateur bloggers say about Tanner and it is even more depressing. Observing his attempt at becoming a writer is like watching an agonizing tragedy unfold in slow motion. At first he might antagonize you but eventually you just end up feeling sad for him. Especially if he has family that have to endure his humiliating digital pollution.

neal has had declining shot rates for a few years now. based on that and his injury history, 20 goals seems like a stretch to me.

i agree, this a trade neither team wins. doesn't move the needle for either team.

first player to go on permanent LTIR probably determines the winner. so long-term, maybe edmonton.

but short-term, i think lucic is a a better position to succeed. pressure will be off playing behind a deeper forward group in a bottom 6 role.

neal is going to be put in the top-6 where he no longer belongs. he'll be in over his head at this point in his career playing a role that he is not suited for.

add the lower caphit and 3rd as protection against a neal bounce back and it seems like a clear win for the flames short-term.

i kinda of a agree with tanner, flames win. hard to see holland winning any trade. he is a terrible gm at this point.

i feel dirty. i'll be scrubbing myself with 60 grit sandpaper for the next hour or so to get the stink of this one off.

No it hasnt:

08-09: 12%
09-10: 15%
10-11: 10%
11-12: 11%
12-13: 12%
13-14: 9%
14-15: 9%
15-16: 12%
16-17: 10%
17-18: 11%
18-19: 5%

It would not bet money on it, but there is a chance he gets 20. Bigger chance then Lucic potting 10.

Based on this data, one blogger on this site have taught me that Neal just have been.... extremely unlucky

Why is Tanner included in this? Guy is such a goofball. I lose braincells just reading his name.
