Holland just said he doesn’t want to take back his past mistakes for contracts

Ugh. Throw me a bone here. It’s necessary to gouge your former GM.

It’s different with the Oilers when their previous GM gouged his own team for years....I’ll just give you Gagner how about that? Throw in a 6 round pick

The buyout was actually 5.6, 4.2, 5.6, 625k x 3 so even better for us.

I based it on being bought out next summer.... used the cap friendly calculator

Yes, but that's the current one for the Flames that removes the 750k that we retained. The point you were making was to compare the buyout of Neal now to what the buyout would've been for Lucic had we not traded him.

Gonna be interesting to see how that translates in our defensive systems.

Sparks wasn't working out for them I presume. Hence the Neuvirth PTO. Getting a 4th adds yet another pick going into this year's draft.

Clarkson is gonna be on the LTIR reserve, however, that doesn't kick in until the season starts. This may mean one thing barring any major trade to free up cap space now.

If anyone offer sheets Marner 11m+, Dubas isn't going to match. He'll take those 4 first's instead. Could anyone blame him though?

Seems like Dubas is playing the long game with Marner while considering the options for this team's future.

That or he just went batpoop crazy.

Yeah I’m not sure what the angle is unless there is an agreement to sign Marner late but it works for Vegas because they were already over the cap so this helps them out in the now

It means they can spend a little more than $92 million and then put Clarkson and Horton on LTIR and save $10.55 million to circumvent the cap.
It also gets rid of Sparks who seemed a little unstable mentally at the end of last season. And we get a 4th rounder.

Hi buddy! Hope your having a good summer!

I call bullshift on your comment tho. They are both has bin’s on new teams. Neal does have the better upside tho in my opinion. Freelancer calling it a massive win for the Oil?! That’s some margarita’s and alligators if you ask me..

Time will tell. I’m not going to jump to conclusions just yet.

- Flamin_Irishmin

Even if Neal never plays a game for us this is a massive win for the fact that his contract is buyoutable and Lucic’s isn’t. And we don’t have to protect him in the upcoming expansion draft.

I can’t see any downside for the Oilers, but there are some people who claim that there is.
