No trades are coming.
GMJR is going to play hardball with Petterson because he has no arb rights and run a 22 man roster to start the season. |

What role will Tanev have? Not sure it is fair to compare the two. Of course a 2 year 1 mil contract is better on a cash strapped team, but if Tanev plays like a young Kunitz that makes a big role difference.

Using Ryan Wilsons subjective take that ZAR has more value than Tanev, I'll make a Wilson-Esque take that ZAR provides more value than Crosby
ZAR = 43GP/17 Points = 0.4PPG for 1 Million
Crosby = 79GP/100 Points = 1.26 PPG for 8.7 Million
Crosby delivers only 3 times the points at 8.7 TIMES THE COST
ZAR, 3 TIMES better Value than Crosby |

RFA's with almost no NHL experience also tend to be better value, based purely on the fact they are.... RFA's |

If Hornqvist doesn’t bounce back or if Gudbranson regresses they’re 100% in front of him in the line. |

Pretty easy to spot given he can't even make a blog about a 2 year minimal signing without making a dig at another player on the roster
Imagine if Cullen hadn't retired yet?

Too bad RW wasn’t writing these when Ryan Whitney was here. That poor guy was so whipped on that on one of the video-game platforms they called him Whittaker. |

Like you don't think it's fair to compare Tanev and Aston-Reese, I don't think it's fair to compare Tanev with Kunitz. Kuntiz has demonstrated offensive ability his entire career. Tanev hasn't. Outside of being physical, they aren't similar players. |

I think you missed the spirit of my point, which was that you don’t really know what you are getting with Tanev. I don’t know much about Tanev, but someone (not sure who) likened him to a young Kunitz. |

He's 28 years old. I think you do know what you're getting with him. It's a comparison I've seen in a few places. It's just not an accurate comparison. He's tenacious, but he doesn't have good offensive instincts. But hey, I'm all for him suddenly developing skills he's always lacked (I don't mean that sarcastically. I'd really like that.) |

I think his role is going the similar to that of Rust, McCaan and Simon. Sullivan will plug him around the lineup depending on who's working and who isn't... or just every other shift because that's what he does.
I think RW's reasoning for the ZAR/Tanev comparison is due to defense. Tanev is a good defensive player with so-so production. For everything I can't stand about ZAR, he is good defensively and depending on how he's deployed he may put up similar numbers to Tanev.
Tanev however is a better skater which make a big difference on both ends of the ice. |

I don’t recall the end of his Duck’s time or the start of Kunitz’s tenure here but did Kunitz play like a young Kunitz before arriving in the Burgh? |

Technically any player's play prior to how they now is younger. |

Makes sense. I don’t know much about Tanev, but I am hoping he can bring some physical intensity.
I don’t mind ZAR. Before Wilson caved his face in he was playing pretty well. |
