Just like last year...and the year before that, ohh and the year before that a playoff year....but wait for it, more years of multiple bottom feeding going on.

They are like Toronto, perennial bloody losers no matter how you dress them up

I'll be in Vegas in a week and a half...wanna go halves on an Oiler Stanley Cup ticket??

Like replacing the Sedins 100 points?
- 1970vintage

It was replaced. 38 goals is another story.

The bottom 6 hurt us most. Better results there & more scoring from D should make us much steadier & difficult to play.

How so? Please enlighten us on how the Canucks are a magic team where everyone except VANTEL and I said the Sedins points would easily be replaced organically and yet San Jose has no other players and so those goals will just disappear.

The top 6 weren't huge difference makers either. Petey was great, however.

Yup! 1/2 of the top 6 were legit. Petey, Bo and Boeser

True it's too early to tell if there will be chemistry on the roster with all the changes.

Injuries are huge. Expect Edler-Tanev-Baertchi to be out within the first month or two then it's step up time for the rest. Boeser and Petey need to have a full healthy year.

- LordHumungous

Injuries are always a concern for every team. I know I keep repeating myself but I figure they will be doing less shot blocking which have caused many many injuries over the years .Another thing is when a Canuck does get injured they will have a better selection of replacements coming up from the Comets. They won't be turning to Gaunce this year.

I am not sure Canucks are finished making moves yet either . I said before they will make two trades this summer so far only one so I am expecting another one.

I think Canuck will be close to 92 pts but if they fail they should still be an entertaining team.

Very big difference. Especially on the defensive side. When Edler/Tanev go down with injuries you got OJ/Sautner/Teves/Rafferty/Chatfield and even Brisbois. Having Benn being able to play both sides is a great advantage.

Besides Gaudette, who do you think forward recalls would be? Boucher? Lind?

Canuck forward call ups this year could be Schaller Eriksson Peron MacEwan Bailey Graovac . There are some big bodies on that list that have put up 50 plus points last year in the AHL

An 8-10 point improvement seems realistic to me. Much better supporting cast, with Ferland, Benn and Myers...combined with continued maturation of the young core (likely-new-captain BH, BB and EP). I’m expecting Marky & Demko to be at least comparable, as a tandem, to the tending the Canucks had over the full season last year.

Whether they make the playoffs likely depends upon how many of those 8-10 points come against division rivals.

- SlightlyOffside

Yes. These additions with what was being worked on towards end of last season look like they are better suited to take advantage of their division rivals. Improved options for special teams, depth and line combos giving different looks could create a scoring 3rd line as well.

Thanks

Do you think Gaudette starts in Utica? I'd love to see him push Sutter out but he's the easy one to send down as he doesn't need to clear waivers.

Probably it will be LE. I don't see them wanting to mess with depth to start the season in moving out Sutter or Sven for futures.

I honestly don't know. I heard Smyl say they would like to develop Gaudette properly on draft day so I would guess no.

I think if Sutter gets injured he will step in or maybe someone else like moving Miller to 3C temporarily .

I think our forwards look like this to start the season

Ferland - EP - Boeser
Pearson - Bo - Miller
Sven - Sutter - JV
Motte - Beagle - Leivo
Schaller - Goldy

I also think that is a very respectable forward group. Roussell will eventually replace Motte, depending on injuries at that time.

I think so also. Unless there is a surprise at camp a guy like Bailey or Peron

Yes those are your likely starters. Line combos might be different depending on what look TG wants. Though keeping Schaller up over the 2 extra D is less likely.

Intriguing, they have tickets that give odds on the Oilers never making the Stanley Cup Finals...

I agree, I like the moves Benning has made to improve the wings and defense, just need to pray to the hockey gods for no injuries.

I'm not sure Calgary and San Jose will be as dominant as last year, so like Belcher I will predict a 3rd place finish.

PS. Love to see Toronto implode.

- Makita

I'd normally say TO will do what it always does but I think kadri has been the reason for their colapses.

I know you have an unhealthy love affair with Edmonton, but I don't see them improving by 17pts and Canucks only 8 or nine.

Besides Smith is crap,

CGY
Van
ARZ
SJ
EDM
LA
ANA

- Makita

I think your predicted standings are pretty accurate
I'd switch Calgary and Vegas, as well as SJ and notes but otherwise I think it's pretty close
