Congrats on your logical assessment of both Hextall and Chiarelli. Most knowledgeable folks would agree with you. Although your colleague Tanner thinks Hextall is scraping the bottom of the barrel and if you are that desperate you might as well just hire a woman.
Now back to a more knowledgeable discussion...I wouldn't touch Chiarelli, but in addition to Hextall I'd have a discussion with Zito and Mike Gillis. Gillis is actually an interesting guy. He's made mistakes but also has a very progressive view on how to construct a proper hockey ops structure. But he's not a millennial so Tanner would not approve. |

I mentioned this in another thread, but as a Sabres fan, and a part-time wild fan, minnesota could do worse than Darcy Regier. He's a steady hand if nothing else, and if they finally face reality and go through a rebuild, he can get top-dollar for assets.
Wild fans obviously know this from the Pominville/Stewart trade.
He's not flashy, and he is sometimes slow to react, but he does not make bad deals. He might be retired. Not sure. |

I will pay so much money for the Wild yo hire Chiarelli. NHL fans need him back in the league for comedic purposes. |
|
|

still say Snow would do a good job. But it would be hard for him to walk away from the 5 mil the isles are still paying him for the next gazillion years.... |

I can see Hextall making sense but NOT Chia
Really I think the Wild need to really sort out what they are doing, get some sort of identity to that team on top of cleaning up their whole front office and getting it all on the same damn page and plan there. |

It's going to be tough for whichever GM they hire if the owner is still convinced they can be a contender this year and wants a GM that can make that happen. |

Honestly, this is going to be an impossible hire for Leipold. Every GM candidate out there should be saying in their interview that this is not a contending team, and that it needs to be built up. Upon hearing that in every interview, Leipold will scrap the idea of hiring a GM and announce himself as the new GM. He is SOOOO tunnel-visioned on the idea that the Wild can contend now. |

I actually really hope they convince Don Waddell to come over from Carolina. Not only does he have a good eye for talent he also is a wily trader. The Wild need both right now. Also I do hope that they extend BB. They won't find a better coach on the market and he has proven to make gold out of a turd time and time again. Who else would want to come in here and coach this mess anyhow? |

Unless they offer him an outrageous amount of money, I can't think of a single reason why Waddell would want to move on to Minnesota, a team on the downslope with a lot of work to be done to get them to contender status.
He can just stay in Raleigh and continue slowly adding pieces where the prospect cupboard is already full. |

Also, incredible revelations in Russo's piece today.
The Wild didn't send even ONE scout to watch Rask before they traded for him? |

Well, I can think of one reason... he doesnt currently have a contract and Russo said he's interested in the wild job... so theres that. |

Russo didn't say he was interested in the Wild job, he said he is "Expected to talk to" Leipold. |

Listen to his podcast and interviews with kfan. He said waddell is peeved at the hurricanes owner for not having a contract and is interested in minnesota. Why else would he be expected to talk to leipold if he had no interest in the job? |

His first order of business would be to buy that scrub Victor Rask out 😂 |

You could do a lot worse than Hextall. However, unless you are considering hiring Mike Milbury, you could not do much worse than Chiarelli |

Hot take. Hextall and Chiarelli are both bottom of the barrel. Not much to differentiate them. If you are this desperate, might as well just hire some lady.

Chia = due diligence. Wow. Thats like interviewing the Captain of the Titanic because he only had one accident. I am worried for the Wild. |
