Carol Schram: Summer Showcase wrapup, Sochi Hockey Open and depth in Utica next season It's an all-prospects blog, with a look at where the Vancouver Canucks' prospects stand after the World Junior Summer Showcase, Vasily Podkolzin and Artyom Manukyan in action for Team Russia at the Sochi Hockey Open and hope that more depth will lead to better results for the Utica Comets next season.

Thanks Carol, I remember this time last year when the Comets were going to be good, with all the Canuck prospects playing big minutes. It could happen, but it will be Bachy and whichever young goalie wins the backup job me thinks.

The same Robert Esche who played goal in the NHL (and KHL for St. Petersburg SKA)? I saw him play a game there in 2008 maybe.

Good take on having less picks is better. <---- sarcasm.

It's not about less is better or more is better. It's what you do with the ones you have. No team has ever been solely built on drafts picks. You win some trades, you lose some.

I don't remember any lives being lost in this instance. It's good you were there with us and know everything. "It can't happen to me" instance right?

You can be flippant if you like, I spent several years....several fcuking years, recovering bloated bodies as a rescue specialist.

Absolute stupidity even if nothing resulted from the asinine decisions of the so call adults.

If we were all so perfect in everything we did, all the time. You might feel biased towards a situation based on past experience but you don't know me or the siuation other than the small details I gave you.

Maybe it's about explaining details that could be considered for if by chance I'm found in a similar situation in the future.

Or you could just sit on your high horse and lay out claims about how stupid it was.

Should we play "what if" ?

I once stopped a vessel during an enforcement patrol, seven kids on board, no compliance equipment, lifejackets, bailer, flares, nothing. I said to the operator “do you know your vessel is taking on water? Yes, but it only happens when I stop,

My thoughts were this is how god weeds out the dumbasses, so guess we’ll see how long before you’re weeded out.

Youre first ballot into heaven doing gods work. It's almost like having a real life angel in my presence right now.

I wasn't really joking before until Mr. Angel decided he was better than me.

It's funny to me, that random internet guy who was there thinks he knows all the details.

I mean what was I really expecting from the Internet. Everybody's an expert and would have done it differently. As I've learned from the older people I know. They all have done way worse dumb poop and survived. It just wasn't put on the Internet for the keyboard warriors to be little them.

I get that as well, but when you actually see something tragic like that it stays with you, changes people. I would look at it as friendly advise.

I certainly would if God wasn't going to weed me out.

I've had co workers see their friends die over the years at work. Ive had co workers lose limbs or had limbs crushed and had a guy I started with have his face almost blown apart.

It's not funny.

Thanks Carol,

Do you consider MacEwen a prospect? He outscored Jasek by 20 or so points.

I did think Jasek had a very under rated season last year. I think he probably earns a call up this year even with the additions of Perron and Bailey.

We'll see how camp and the season play out but I expect we'll see Gaudette, Bailey, MacEwen first followed by Jasek or Perron. I really hope they stop calling up Boucher unless it is only to juggle contracts.

It is pretty stupid to go out in the water with an overloaded boat, especially with young children. It doesn't take much to capsize and once that happens all hell can break loose....quickly.

New World Record for Angler caught Halibut, 248 cm, 219 kg, 1h 35m to bring in and they couldn't get it in the boat, caught off Iceland. That's a big egg layer to loose.

Hockey Talk!

That sounds good to me, although i wonder if we'll have less call ups this year with Schaller, Eriksson, Motte/Leivo sitting in the wings.

I am hoping for one fourth line surprise in camp. Someone steals a job.
