Why would they when there are larger markets that have contending teams? Not to mention star players that are actually likable.

The team hasn't earned it, gotta be good to be on NBC I guess. The rest of north America probably doesn't want to watch buffalo. I dont really blame them we haven't been good.

I don't have an issue with NBC's broadcast outside of Mike Milbury. I prefer national broadcasts because it means Buffalo is relevant in the league's conversation.

That said, NBCSN has been known to flip games out for better matchups in the late winter and into the Spring. If the Sabres are a compelling team, their games will be picked up by the network for a lesser matchup.

Also, ratings are based on percentages of the population, not actual eyeballs on the screen. A rating of 1 or 2 in a market like New York or Boston is the same as a 4 in Buffalo.

i get that percentage wise buffalo has consistently high ratings during hockey games.. but the total numbers are nothing compared to the high population markets.. Plus half the buffalo fans will tune in to watch part of the other teams games too..

What I really want is for Buffalo to be compelling enough for Sportsnet to pick up more Buffalo-Toronto and Buffalo-Montreal matchups on CBC/CITY.

Two things:

1) I'd rather listen to MSG feed each time over that nonsense.

2) Can you blame them? Yes the Sabres have talent in some spots but everyone is sick of "Wait till next year". They have to prove their worth to get ratings.

If the Sabres consistently have the highest ratings and NBC decides not to show them, that's dumb. But if ratings are terrible because of poor product (which the Sabres have been) what should we expect?

That's like asking why anyone in their right mind would want to live in a gigantic metropolis with insane traffic everywhere, insane prices for every single item and service imaginable, where most people are total buttwipe know-it-alls, their "likable stars" can't even get past the first round of the playoffs, and a cool million gets you a one-bedroom apartment (and a parking spot costs extra).

Good. I hate national broadcasts. They seem to start later than they should and they're usuy love-fests for the other team. Also, every player on both teams is the best player ever, in NBC's minds.
