Dan Wallace: Don't Expect GM Decision Soon

If anyone out there listens to the podcast "spittin' chicklets", their most recently released ep has an insider discuss various candidates. Shed's some light on the apparent turmoil in management. Plus Crosby finally has a candid interview where he seems much less censored.

How about taking a shot in the dark and making Modano the new GM?

I am guessing that Modano is being lined up to the next Pres of Hockey Ops...who will have to work with whoever the new GM is. I am leaning towards (like I'm doing the hire) Tom Fitzgerald as the new GM, with Mellanby next in line and Guerin the 3rd choice and Mark Hunter as #4.

I don't think Hextall will fit in what Leipold wants for culture. Chia is just a straight up no. Waddell is out, as is Zito. I am not really keen on Hunter's experience. Guerin sounds like he wants to keep things old-school. So for me, it comes down to Fitzgerald and Mellanby.

That was Russo who did a great piece on the Athletic on the entire saga. That podcast was great with Sid interview.
