Tessier ... Provorov, but not even an honorable mention to Rielly

Obviously I have a little bias here but I think Letang is worthy of at least an honorable mention.

I like the inclusion of Provorov. He gets overlooked (Philly, young), but he's elite and will be a legitimate Norris candidate before long.

Appreciate the Provy nod but he's not on that list right now.

Pete is just ignorant to the rest of the league. PK is a beauty but nobody in the know is putting him top 5.

4. Morgan Rielly

His defensive play is nothing to write home about but he's overwhelmingly good with the puck on his stick and that more than makes up for any potential warts in his own zone. I think he plays on the perfect team to maximize his talents.


I think Reilly is pretty solid in his own zone.. He isn't a net clearing beast, but he is smart with and without the puck, and rarely misses an assignment.

PK was a Norris finalist in 2018. Numerically speaking that makes him a top 3 defender league wide. Logic dictates that he would make top 5 on many people's list if you are only examining the eastern conference. I mean unless he has totally gone to pot in a single season.

Personally I think PK has and will always continue to be crapped on for having a loud personality. The NHL loves their boring ass, vanilla, Jack Hughes type player, and interviews with all the flair of watching paint dry. People gave Scott Gomez grief too for showing a sense of humor. I liked PK's "antics" in Montreal, I liked them in Nashville, and I'm ecstatic I'll get to see them in NJ. #PKforPresident
