Yeah it's the summer.

I mean lots of guys were calling them a bubble team last summer before Markstrom's breakout season or EP's huge year as a rookie.

Wasn't it just a couple of years ago the team won 4 of their first 5 games or something and "suck it haters" became the catch phrase?

That’s my thinking. The only reason JB has a job is his last few drafts produced BB and EP. It’s my belief that JB and crew had no idea of what they actually had in both until they actually played an NHL game. Especially BB. I think they were as surprised as we were at the skill level displayed.

That speaks volumes on their vision for this team in my books.

i've wanted that for the last 7 tdl's.

...but if we're sellers, that means the season didn't go well?

you're not a paranoid hater are you?

Or the Canucks got a new GM.

St Louis were sellers & it worked out. Trading at any time to unload is my motto. Idc about PO hunt or not so always trade to get better if it helps later.

That's fine, I don't think I can stomach another "we choked" interview.

Would be a refreshing change to JB’s humming and hawing.

Yeah he could do some real damage to the future just trying to make the playoffs in a marketing year.
- A_SteamingLombardi

Like the fear some had earlier this summer hoping he wouldn't speed up the process of re-building by trading future assets for 'now' players.

That could be said of any GM not getting a no-brainer pick in a draft. Give a GM credit for making a pick for good or ill.

you might not care about the PO hunt, but benning and the prospect of unemployment surely does.

No, he traded a 1st for a 2nd line player while the team should still be re-building, in my hater, not a real fan opinion.
Also, Myers is a bottom pairing d-man.

Oh i believe it’s a PO push & i care. Its presumptuous to say JB will do a rash move to save his hide. To date JB has played his cards to close to his vest on what plans or moves he wants to make. I don’t see doing otherwise unless stating the obvious.

20/80 unless JB gets approached for say Sutter or Stecher or Sven.

This is the key. Continued roster development. (frank) the regular season record. Some arbitrary anniversary shouldn’t dictate a change in philosophy.

If JB continues to work the roster during the season for long term success then I’ll give him credit. If he just goes for a playoff spot at future’s expense then this whole “change is coming” schtick was an undeniable lie.

As will I, I just don't believe he really has that ideology. I wonder out of curiosity how people would feel about his drafting had EP not had such a big season. I mean it's certainly his strength but is it really 2nd level?

I think he might be better than some at drafting but I don't think he's any kind of drafting guru. Keep in mind that I am a miserable whiner.

I'm still sad they didn't have a 3rd round pick.

Would you trade Madden and Podkolzin for Miller (has they not already acquired him)?

Again only if it’s long term help. I don’t see it if for picks. 10/90
