Pietrangelo’s easily top 10. He’s one of the best shutdown defensemen in the league, and ranks top 10 in points over the last half-decade, even while relatively recently moving to the PP. |

It'll be interesting to see how Subban and Trouba perform with their new teams.
Hopefully PK does great and Jason pulls a Kevin Shattenkirk...
....I mean pulls a Wade Redden. |

List is a bit of a mess, not surprisingly. Veterans like Pietrangelo and Suter are wildly overrated here. Even Doughty should be lower, if we’re taking a truly critical approach.
I’d have Karlsson ahead of Burns in the top spot, and there are a few young guys who are either too low (Werenski) or not listed at all (Ellis, Ekholm).
I’ll sit back now and listen to the Habs fans whine about Weber’s omission

I don't think Weber belongs on that list at this point. Are you happy, now? |

Shea Weber cannot make the list unless he has a 2nd round+ beard. |

No OEL makes it a bad list, otherwise it seem directionally correct. |

This list is hilarious. It should read as best scoring defenseman not best defenseman. I'd take Josi and Hedman and Ellis over Burns and Karlsson. |

Yeah he's basically a winger playing D. |

Burns as #1 is a joke, he isn’t really a defenseman. He puts up points but is average at playing D. |

Slavin gets overlooked on these lists but I would take him over several on the list. |
|
|
|
I expect Dahlin on that list by the end of the season |
|

Can't believe Jake Gardiner didn't make it. |

Wow what a joke this list
no Ellis, Ekholm, or this guy on Carolina, what's his name, Slavin I think
Not a big Hab fan but no shea weber, he's better than half on this list. As a leader, a defensive defenseman and his shot is second to none.
So many on this list don't know how to be good defensively, but put up points - to put Brent Burns as #1 is ridiculous.
Mark Giordano is the best on this list, hands down. Last season he was THE man.
Most overrated, though we love his personality- PK, we're looking at you. He's good but not top 20. |

Anyone who watches the Sharks play a full game would tell you Burns is brutal in his own end.
There is no way he is number 1. That belongs to Hedman.
Plus, Burns isn't even the best dman on his own squad that would be Karlsson. |

Ya I am a habs fan so this could be a homer statement.
But Subban wasn't even the best dman in the trade. Weber>Subban |

This list, like most top defenseman list, tends to favor older guys based on what they used to do instead of what guys can do now.
OEL and Chabot deserve to be on this list |

Last time I checked Giordano has the Norris and there have been a total of Zero NHL games played since he won it, that puts him at # 1 on this list. How this is missed - well that's beyond me.
The man still is disrespected even after winning the Norris, by a LANDSLIDE, I might add. |
