Sergachev a great add. Especially for Drouin, who...at his price-point...would not be a great fit on the current Lightning roster. If there ever was a deal involving moving from a point of over-abundance (forwards)...and addressing a "need"....(a top 4 D-man), this is a prime example.
Well done, I think Sergachev remains a solid top 4 guy for many years to come. And as D-men peak later than forwards, I would guess he has much more to give yet. |

On the face of it, it's a cheapish one year term... no risk.
On the other, I have no idea what to make of Shattenkirk anymore. Whenever I saw him with the Rangers over the past couple of years I was happy we didn't go out and get 'em.
No clue.
Re: Serg, he's coming along nicely. Some ups and downs, but his skillset and seemingly coachability is real nice. At worst, he's a solid #4 with offensive flair and a bit of chippiness coming out in his game. At best, he could be a potential #2/3 in the future.
I don't see him flaming out. Too much talent and too much hustle. |

I don't think his knee can cut it anymore defending against elite NHL forwards

I figure he'll be on the 3rd pairing with Coburn. Get some 2PP unit time. If he falters, Ruutta, Schenn, Foote and Witkowski are all looking for a chance. |

Shatty was protected by great dmen in St. Louis. Was exposed in Washington and New York. Speed has diminished and was never a good dman, was all offense.
Will be exposed in Tampa in playoffs as team plays horrible team defense. Should be good in regular season though.
Sergachev is a work in process. The usual thinking is after about 250 NHL games a dman has shown what he is. As the article stated he’s close at 179 games played
I think he’s smart in the O end but defensively I don’t see a lot of hockey IQ.
This season will tell
Broken record here Drouin and now Sergachev will never be Seth Jones. Stevie made a big mistake with that 4th overall pick. But his first round picks weren’t really very good. |

Foote isn’t ready. Schenn, Witkowski and Ruutta are scary! |

Sam Hitchcock: Sergachev: Year Three - Sam Hitchcock
Which leg from the Tri-pod will go first? Hedman is certainly not being traded, but Serg and McD are going to be too $$$ next season. Something has to give. |

On Foote: based on, what? He had a great year in the A.
For the other 3, they're spare #8/9/10 guys. They'd probably be fine as fill-ins. No one is expecting them to be Hedman or even Cernak. |

Can’t skate
Plays 9-11 minutes a game...super sllllllow
Couldn’t make it work on McDavids line a few years ago
Erne should have played up on second line but Cooper is lost
Shatty n Maroon cheap but a waste
I like steak. Like filet Mignon. Sirloin is cheaper but why waste my cash on shi? |

Sure Maroon doesn’t have speed but the guy put up 27 goals 2 years ago when playing with McDavid. But hey 27 goals means he couldn’t hang with McDavid😂Signing him at 900k is a deal for a power forward that just won the Stanley Cup. I guess a guy who scored the game 7 double OT winner is a waste though 😂😂 |

Still trying to get an idea of what the Wings got by getting Erne from Tampa. People are basically saying a 3rd or 4th line grinder. Does he have any upside ? What are his strengths ?
He's 24, so hoping he has more potential and was under-utilized in Tampa. |

Adam Erne could spot up to the 2nd line given the opportunity, his hands and skills are decent but when he got to the AHL and NHL its been limited. He was never going to pass the players the Lightning already have to make the third line let along the second line. To me he will be a decent 3rd line LW power forward who can give your 30 points a year at best. But Erne is also injury prone which hampered some of his development. Last season was the first with the Lightning where he was relatively injury free since he has been in the organization.
There have been hints from the local beat writers here in Tampa that Erne might asked to be traded to get a chance to play on a higher line, Erne himself did not confirm or deny that report when asked so I tend to think there is some merit to this rumor. |

Thanks for the info. Yeah... your team is stacked, so I was hoping maybe he might improve his game with more ice time on a crappy Red Wings team. Wings are still at least a couple years away from being a legit playoff team. We just gotta get rid of a few more horrible Ken Holland contracts and we'll be fine. Wings are slowly getting an infusion of youth. Erne at age 24 is at least as good if not better than any of Detroit's bottom six forward if healthy I think. Rebuilds are tedious and painful. |

Tampa was an absolute tire fire when Yzerman took over.
If anyone can restore the Red Wings to greatness, it is Stevie Y.
