6 years at 10M really is fair though. Eichel money with 2 years less in term.

Leafs want him at 6+ years, Mitch wants 5. Leafs can't have him and AM hit FA at the same time. Mitch says, that's your problem, not mine. This is literally the issue.

On one hand 8 x 10 would look pedestrian for a top 5 winger in 5 years, so I can see what MM is saying. Leafs need him to make that because they have given the big bucks away already.

I think he is worth it, the problem is the market has been set with comparables in 9-9.5 range for players like Kane, Kucherov, Aho etc..
