Not gonna lie, that scares me a bit. Can easily see TK in the doghouse.

Konecny has a great record in OT, so it would be a shame if he was taken out of that role. In 17-18 he had 2 goals and 2 assists in 22:11 of icetime, and was only on the ice for one goal against. In 18-19 he had a goal and an assist in 14:45, and was on the ice for two goals against.

He's 0/8 in shootouts so far, though.

Not worried about Konecny. Although I'm still surprised it's taking this long.

I'm someone who has been an AV defender more than my Ranger fan breathern. I'll be the first to say though, this might be a test to see how AV has grown as a coach. If what Bill says is true (no reason to think it isn't though I don't follow the Flyers as closely), TK could remind me a lot of Buchnevich. If AV follows his past, wouldn't shock me to see TK on reduced lines or the pressbox.

exactly, the one thing on TKs side though is that he is an established goal scorer in the league while Buchnevich was a skilled guy that was very green.

I don’t think TK ends up in doghouse. Brings too much to the ice. He’s arguably our fastest skater, he’s pesky and gets under players skin, has great shot release and has proven he can score, as well as hang on a top line.

I'll agree with that. When I defend AV's rep for younger players I note that Zib, Skjei, Kreider, etc had no problem finding big minutes as younger players. It is the second tier guys like Buch (and some people argue Clendening, but I was never a fan of his) who were getting benched. I think given the pattern it would be guys like Lindblom and Myers who could get the shaft.

This is going to be a huge test for AV. In his career he's never really had a team that wasn't already in a solid place after Montreal. In Montreal things didn't work out. The guy is a winner, but it remains to be seen how he handles being in a developmental situation.

I'm not so worried about Linblom because his 200 foot game is good but a guy like Meyers that will have growing pains in his first full season is another story. I can see him being sat in place of vets and guys like Hagg just because they are deemed "dependable".

If old AV comes out, Hagg will get his minutes, but it'll be Braun who will get missued. Guy does good when he's sheltered in the right role. He shouldn't sniff anywhere close to the first pair. Braun could be the new Marc Staal. Ranger fans have PTSD about sending Staal and/or Girardi out in late game situations in the late AV years after it was clear their useful shelf life was pretty much gone.

Hopefully Yeo being more of a player's coach will balance well with Therrien's in your face style.

Let's face it, Therrien and AV can get blue in the face over whatever, but they can't afford to bench TK. They're thin on the wing as is... who are they gonna put on a scoring line? Pitlick? Raffl? Lets get real here.

Hedger reports that other restricted free agent defencemen are currently waiting on Werenski and Philadelphia Flyers defenceman to set the set the market for them. Hedger adds "he's heard" Provorov's camp has asked for $10 million per season on a new deal, though that's likely on a longer-term deal.
Via TSN, i'll personally show him the door.

$10M is ridiculous. He is not the 3rd best defenseman in the league.

If Werenski ends up signing the supposedly ~ 3x$5M contract, i call Provy and offer the same deal, take it or leave it.

I’m not buying it at all. No GM in the NHL would give Provy that even if he was a UFA. And if it’s true then he should fire his agent

If you think that he is a franchise level D, I would try to sign him to Trouba money. If push comes to shove, I'd give him 9 million without thinking. With the RFAs, every new contract is going to top the previous round. To lock up a franchise level player through their whole prime is worth their weight in gold. By the time the contract is over, his salary might not even be in the top 20. If you bridge him and the next group of RFAs sign for big money, he might want 11-12 next time around.

If you think that's scary, if Hart really blossoms that will be an interesting contract after the 20-21 season.

If he signs that, Werenski should fire his agent. You'd have to think after the exodus in Columbus he'd have all the leverage, or at least enough to ask for more than that.

True, they can't afford to lose another big name. But if he does, that sets the market for Provy and Macavoy, neither should be paid more than him at the moment (in a similar term deal).
