To answer those three questions, Maybe (given your quality D), absolutely not (Werenski is better than Prov), and no (he will be mid-pack at best).

I get doubting Cory Schneider, but the reality is he's had some serious injuries and the defensive squad in front of him has been poor to fair. After an atrocious start to last season coming back from hip surgery he finished the year with some really good numbers. And that was playing for a remarkably injury depleted team. So nobody knows exactly what to expect but I'm guessing he's very solid. The elite days are probably gone.

Also, in addition to PK Subban, the Devils are likely to add standout prospect Ty Smith to the defense. While still not an outstanding lineup they do have some good depth. So the expectation is an improved D.

Just saying.

Jets can send hometown boy Roslovic plus Logan Stanly and a cap balancer to you guys for Werenski, the trade sucks for you guys but it’s a good deal for us.

A popular request would be to get Laine for Zach, shift the focus towards acquiring offence, he's no Panarin but he's a poor man's Ovechkin.

This Provorov nonsense ek is bringing up would only be a lateral move for both teams and not really solving anything.

I'd take Schneider over Korpi right now. Seems a little premature to be asking if Korpi can be elite. I'd wait and see if he can be at least average as a start first before expecting elite goaltending.

Yes, it is possible, along with four or five other teams. The Metro is going to be a brutal division this year, with everyone pretty close together until the injuries pile up and some team or teams fall by the wayside.

But there is no reason to think that the CBJ can't compete for and get a playoff spot this year. It's up to the new goalies to prove their worth and the young players who will get a chance to play big minutes performing up to their expectations.

If there is one negative thing that can be said about the CBJ it's that they have more questions to answer about their roster than any team in the division.

Laine would be a great add to the roster if he wants to play here, but with his performance and supposedly negative attitude last year it's a two-headed coin, maybe we can get him for less than ZW, but do you really want him?
