I'm not the biggest fan of Boudreau, but he's being tasked with having to squeeze blood out of a stone. The Wild consist of a aging core, and don't have the elite prospects to take on bigger roles. Plus, Dubnyk has taken a step back over the past couple of years.

BB has the best winning percentage of any coach in NHL history. It was well documented that Paul Fenton tried to fire him on numerous occasions and that Liepold blocked him. It wouldn't surprise me if the Nino and maybe even Coyle trades were done out of spite. All that nonsense about not doing anything post season is just that, nonsense. Look at Quenneville's post season performance before he got to the Hawks. Or Trotz record until he went to Washington. So many things need to come together at just the right time to win a cup that it can hardly be totally laid at the feet of BB.

Your best and worst case scenarios should be reversed. The best case is the Wild tank and get a lottery pick. No more player for player trades but get draft picks instead.

I've mentioned this previously, but I do think a lot of what's going wrong in Minnesota is due to the ownership. Leipold is at best in denial, and at worst completely delusional at times to the state his team is actually in. Yes, Parise and Suter are still on the team, but they're not in their primes anymore. Having them on your team doesn't mean your a cup contender as long as their wearing a Wild sweater, not by themselves. He reminds me of one of these crazy NFL owners who have their GM's go out and get players based on the name on the back of the Jersey rather than recent performance or how much they can actually help the team. Leipold was right to fire Fenton, but why wait until he messed up your off-season to give him the boot? You also have to ask if some of the questionable moves Fenton made were a direct result of Leipold's delusion that the Wild were still cup contenders and weren't in need of rebuild. Kind of feel bad for Zucc... He was the Wild's major addition this off-season, and no sooner than you sign, the owner fires the GM who just hired you... If that was me, I'm not sure I'd be able to avoid wondering if there was some correlation there, legit or not.

Looking forward to the Blackhawks blog... We know the Hawks trolls are watching and waiting. Should be fun. Hopefully they come up with something more original than banners, or ur 'frm the south, derp...

I worked in the Preds organization years ago. I like Paul Fenton. Leipold not.
This was/is an opportunity for "him" to put "his" name on a professional sports team.
