The Neal for Lucic swap was Holland's best move of the summer

Yikes. Edmonton did worse on that trade from every possible angle. The Oilers have to pay more real dollars, the Oilers have to pay more imaginary dollars, the Flames got the better hockey player (double yikes), and the Oilers are going to hinder McDavid by giving Neal a shot with him. The only positive is he's easier to throw more money at to just go away. I could score 20 goals playing with McDavid. So it's not really a bold prediction. The only way the Oilers win the trade is if Neal or Chiasson can score 20 on the third line. What are the chances that happens?

Neal has really nice fake teeth and a hot wife. So I guess there's that.

Still think koskinen takes starters role and plays great this year...our d will me way more mobile and productive with added depth...nygaard and Haas speed will prob net them 10-15 each...Neal scores 25-30 with our top centers...he is a top line guy and last year had a coach who didn't give him a chance...Tippett is a better coach and will have Neal playing off our great center depth...Neal needs to be with a team with top centers not soft perimeter players who can't compete in tough situations...

I love em all, but I don't think a rapprochement with JP can happen this season. I would not at all be surprised if he's back in camp a year from now though.

I guess you gotta get as many as these in as you can before reality comes with the regular season. Oilers could have retained 50% and it would still be a tie.

yeaaah I don't see it...sounds a bit homer

If not Neal then who was their best: Smith? Archibald? Granlund? Sad but Neal was the best...hardly a bold prediction

There is a slight but noticeable difference between bold and delusional.

Sean’s predictions are bold.

Predicting the Oilers making the playoffs is delusional.

There wasn't one comment I made that even suggests that I think Lucic is a good player. I'm just excited that he might try and fight a goalie. Just that possibility makes him a better hockey player than Neal.

What exactly are you expecting Neal to bring to the Oilers that's better than goalie punching? Oilers fans seem to be excited that Neal could score 20 goals. Every player earning an NHL paycheck, except maybe Lucic, could score 20 goals playing with McDavid. And if Neal isn't playing with McDavid, he'll be a detriment to the team in every possible way.

Smith is a far, far, far better pickup than Neal. If the Oilers get good Smith, the Oilers make the playoffs. Smith tends to play better when the team in front of him is garbage, so there's a pretty good chance they get good Smith.

If Neal poops the bed this year we can buy him out at a reasonable number... Lucic is buyout proof... that alone makes Calgary the loser.

Most if not all goalies can skate faster than Lucic. They should have no problem avoiding having to fight him.

Gryba is off the books after the year, and Pouliot the following year. Not that i think he was saying he will be bought out, but that it is more stomachable than buying out Lucic, which was the only way most of us thought was the only way to rid the team of his contract. Which did nothing to free up space so it wasnt an option.

The negative impact of the Flames having to protect Lucic in the expansion draft is so overrated. You can only lose 1 player and we were going to lose a good player to Seattle anyway as all good teams will.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCH will be such a great team guy in Calgary he will waive his NMC so we wont need to protect him!
