TSN is reporting the Yotes just signed Keller to a 57. 2 mm contract (8 x 7.15).
So much for Chucky's AAV starting with a 7.
That's a ridiculous number Frank Me!

That's Chia type contract. Fcuk me what's with that. Doesn't necessarily mean the Flames will have to overpay but wow gives them something to use as amunition.

The flames are bringing in Smith-Pelly, Reider, Rinaldo and some guy named Grenier on PTOs.

I for one am all for giving Smith-Pelly a shot, and there's no risk to a PTO.

Agreed, Would like to have the guy available if there were injuries or a tough playoff opponent.

Rinaldo would be ok for the AHL as well, get a a Prout replacement guy down there, call him to p!ss off some Oilers every once in a while and send him back to watch Dube's back.

Smith Pelley would be good, but honestly, who's he going to displace in the lineup? Good organizational depth, but doubt he wants to be a 13th forward or an AHL'er at this point in his career. Probably just goes overseas.

Might also look like a steal in a couple of years, the guy is a legit playmaker and Zona has some good looking prospects coming down the pike in Hayton and Merkley, plus a chance to play with Kessel this year - could really take off in terms of his counting numbers.

I getcha... but look at that team... still led the team in points and #2 was a defenceman...

It'll look good before long, possibly before the season is out

That’s what they’re banking on, plus they miss the crap that every team with talented RFAs is going through. Still 47 points.

Agreed. 65 the year before with a slightly more talented group around him.

Chayka's a different guy for sure

Well, don't see Backlund playing wing this year, and don't think Frolik sits ahead of Dube or Smith-Pelly. If you shifted Backs to line 3 with Dube on the wing instead of Looch, I could see most of the rest of that being possible (though I think unlikely)

The fact that we have not seen Lindholm play center, and the fact that we went after Kadri should probably be enough to tell people that Lindholm is not a #1 center.

Agreed that he's not a bonafide #1, but he also wouldn't need to be in that situation. He's a strong faceoff guy, Mony/Chucky would command almost as much attention as Lindy/Johnny from most opposing coaches so there is some merit to breaking the lines up a little bit.

That said, I still think it's highly unlikely we see a ton of messing around with lines, and moreso that DSP makes the lineup ahead of Frolik (unless Fro is traded)
