Werensky signed.

3 years, $5 million per.

That's what a bridge deal should be.

- BINGO!

When i first heard the idea of him signing that on here i thought for sure there was no way he'd sign for that low.
I was wrong.
Great bridge deal for the team.

I have some ride share war stories. Most recently I was getting onto 93 (interstate) and the on ramp is on the left side of the highway. Well, we had to take the next exit in like 1/2 a mile and therefore had to cross a few lanes to get over. This person just put their blinker on, waited 3 seconds and without looking changed lanes. I'm glad I'm still here.

I once got in a rideshare with a mexican dude driving for the first time in winter from NYC to Montreal in a 94 dodge caravan that he bought in BC that had no working heat and super dim headlights. Going through the Adirondacks that evening while it was -20C outside was the closest I think I've ever been to death.

Kind of what a bridge should be. All this ridiculous money going to RFA's is nuts.

Great deal for Columbus.

And Werenski is in my fantasy league so I'm glad.

No way Id go that high for a bridge deal of 3 years. Why would he deserve 4M more then Werenski?

You took a ride share from NYC to Montreal??

What'd that run you? I wasn't even aware they could cross borders.

That's some poop luck, because I thought the cars had to be only so old. That sounds absolutely miserable

Unfortunately Chiarelli/Buffalo started the trend of this big $$ for RFA's. Hard to break the trend now.

Can't remember the price (Probably like 30 bucks) but it was right after a "big snow storm" probably 6 years ago and one way flights were 1000$USD+, bus tickets were sold out for a week because of the delays and trains weren't running. Didn't have too much of a choice.

Just an honest question for everyone. The article says:

"It’s the new NHL. Faster, younger, more skilled and higher paid"...

Obviously this is the mantra of the new NHL which would include Dubas. We are full on in that philosophy of speed and skill (which is great to have!)... however, my question for you all is: can you actually win a cup if that is all you have? The last Cup winners were St.Louis (big defense first team) and Washington (big team that started playing a defensive style)? Previous winners either are big physical teams (LA, Boston) or have elite superstars that take them to the cup (Crosby, Malkin, Toews, Kane...)

? Thoughts?

Matthews is C, a better player, and is on a 5 year deal, not a 3 year deal. I do think Matthes got overpaid.

Yeah. Not sure that's the best bet on his part, but it's a pretty solid deal for the team.

Matthews and Tavares and Marner (and just to piss people off Nylander) are elite superstars who have yet to take us to a cup.

Marner is a winger, produced more points so far and going from 5 to 3 years doesn't explain the huge pay gab you're suggesting.

Goals >>> Assists A 1st line C always gets more. I also said Matthews was overpaid a bit.

I wonder if Domi gets 8 x 11 to match Matthews
