I think Barzys situation is a little different from the rest.

1) Barry is #1 priority especially after JT left
2) there not up against the cap
3) the other RFA's (pulock and toews) are due for raises but not getting Barzy money.

Barzy will get 8x8 maybe 9x8 pulock will be around 5 mill and toews I can see a bridge deal

the way i see it is they need 21 mil for those three 10 for barzel, 6 for pulock, and 5 for toews.

Agreed...I think right now they have about 20 mill free next year (based on hockey buzz cap central)

Sorokin replaces griess on a ELC and matt Martin takes about 1mill a year (if he wants to stay) and theres plenty of room for those 3 guys

Aho set a great precedant. 5 years 8.4M AAV. 8 years at 8.5M AAV isn't far off. Now ink him before Point/Marner/Tkachuk/Rants all set a new standard north of 10M.

Barzal would be insanely stupid to sign before those guys do. Their deals only serve to give him more leverage. Not to mention he's coming off a "down" (compared to his rookie year) season anyway. The chances of him signing an extension before this deal is up are probably less than zero.

Don't use this website's cap feature. CapFriendly is the only reliable one out there. Isles have, as of now, $16.1M in cap space next year.

https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/islanders

Also, Sorokin will only be on a 1 year ELC because of his age. I know how looking to the future gets treated around here, but they'll have to plan for him to get a significant raise in the summer of 2021 as well.

I think sorokin has to be on a two year ELC. And thats why I don't think he is ever coming over. Loses way too much money. I hope I'm wrong....))

You are definitely wrong about the contract:

The length of the entry-level contract is also dependent on the player’s age:
18-21 years of age: 3 years
22-23 years of age: 2 years
24 years of age: 1 year

Sorokin is currently 24 and turns 25 next August, which is before the Sept 15th cutoff

Still entirely possible that he doesn't come over, but I think he'll survive for a year.

There is a feeling by many that the Cap will be going up a lot with the addition of seattle and also a new TV deal. Not to mention a new CBA.
That said the Isles will be fine as far as the cap once they get rid of JB and Badd's contracts.
Pellegrini is also considered one of the best as far as Cap management so don't worry your silver back about the cap.

Longobardi said the meeting Monday with state budget director and project developers is still on. "We decided we should do everything we think necessary to protect the village," he told Newsday Tuesday. "We will be at the meeting and hope it's productive."

"This lawsuit concerns a project proposed to be developed for private use on a portion of Belmont Park that is, by any objective standard, completely at odds---in terms of
purpose, proportionality and compatibility---with the suburban communities that surround it."

The basis of the lawsuit is this ---> Floral Park believes that plans they uncovered (via a FOIL) that show NYRA had drawn up plans for an Isles arena at Belmont before any RFP raise questions about the legitimacy of ESD's subsequent public bidding process for Belmont land.

-Franchise Oversight Board (which owned the land at Belmont until just recently)

They are going to try, however all the appropriate steps and more were taken to get the approvals for the project. That in itself will make it hard for the law suit to actually get a stop work order imho.

That said this is New York so anything is possible.

Ya think!?

The governor is on board, this won't go anywhere. But yes they will fight this forever. Even after it's built they will be proposing it gets knocked down.

Probably just political grandstanding and grasping at straws, honestly. As pointed out above, I have a real hard time seeing Cuomo behind this project just to have some small-time village mayor that got less than 1600 votes kill it in court.

They're alleging that the ESD violated the law by having an RFP with a rigged outcome

Do what every other contending team does. Make the moves to make your team stronger and worry about this other shat later. Now by making moves to make the team stronger I don’t mean signing bad players for to much money and four year contracts.😂
