Hathaway also looked great playing with Ryan. I think Mang is good on the 3rd line. 2nd line is the shutdown line right ? |

Good read Todd. I agree with your thoughts here. Preseason really doesn't mean diddly - other than to see what you have in game situations, and try to get a glimpse of how to best utilize what you have. |

Trade Frolik. Sign Tkachuk
Bennett on the RW of first line. Give them some toughness, grit, and real high skilled players for Bennett to skate with (which he has never had consistently). Slightly less physical, higher end skill version of Ferland.
Lindholm on RW with Backlund and Tkachuk. Done multiple times last season.
Thirdline Ryan, Mangiapane, Lucic. If real toughness is needed on 1st line for a few shifts of a game swap Lucic and Bennett.
Fourth line Jankowski, Dube, and whoever.

Pretty sure BT has been trying to trade Fro for a while now. No takers it seems |

No takers, or Do the Flames still want a higher return.
I get that the quality of players being offered back may not be what they were hoping for. But look at the trade as:
Whatever team gets Frolik
Calgary gets Matthew Tkachuk (any anything else doesn't matter). |

Fro is a strange player, does a lot of things right but you do not really notice them. He had some great games last year, typically after being dragged through the coals by Peters. But he is not a top 6 player and do not really feel like he jives on the third line.
Would be so much happier with the center situation if Flames got Kadri.
Janko has been underwhelming. |

Fair enough but also I think don’t underestimate what Fro did on the D side of things. Guys like him are very valuable come playoff time |

We get it. You're from Barrie. But maybe it's time to start watching Flames games if you want to comment on their team. Mangiapane is a great 4th line guy, and the Flames have one of the best 4th lines in the league. That's great! Putting Mangiapane on the Flames shut down line is a laughably bad idea. The numbers you bring up about with the per 60 nonsense is meaningless because he played 40 games and ten minutes a night against the other teams' worst players. There's nothing in his game that makes it look like he's capable to be going against the other teams' best players all game.
Leaving him on the 4th line gives the Flames an advantage on the 4th line that they definitely won't have if he's playing in a top-six role. |

Might be teams waiting for the RFA chips to fall too...
Think Philly, Columbus and Ottawa are all waiting for the teams that need cap space to offer up a pick to go with their dead weight.
Anaheim might come knocking if they complete the Kase for Faulk deal as well. Would have just enough space to fit Fro in if they pull that deal off.

You are such an idiot! You can't just offer your perspective (which, by the way - is just 1 opinion - it is not FACT as you seem to believe) without trashing somebody else's thoughts and opinions. You must be an absolute joy to be around, because you are obviously such a happy person and all. Maybe your hockey opinions have merit - maybe they don't - but either way, why do you have to be such a pompous, know it all wiener every time you comment.

Mangiapani is getting bad advise from his agent. It took him a long time to get going, he may develope into a top 6 eventually but as of now he’s being used where he belongs.
This would be like me advocating for Dube to play top 6. Give it a rest. |

I bet he signs right at the beginning of camp. Keep it to one year, then go out and prove it. It is not worth it for him to miss any time. More importantly, what is Tre going to do to free up enough room for Tkachuk ? He's got to move someone. |

Now now, I know that clown has a phone line direct to Flames management and coaches...
Everytime a decision is considered by Treliving or Peters, Hunk's phone goes off... I actually have footage of it...

Alright, I'm bored. Here's an NHL 20 discussion...
You're Flames management. Sean Monahan has come off a 30 goal, 75 point season and the team is ousted in the 2nd round. Mony registered 8 points in 14 games.
Columbus has the 3rd overall pick and calls you with Byfield, Perfetti and Askarov available to you.
They offer a trade of Mony straight up for the pick. What do you do?
- Reject and tell Jarmo to never call you again
- Counter and ask for another pick/prospect/roster player
- Accept
If you reject, why?
If you counter, what do you ask for additionally?
If you accept, who do you draft in that slot?

If you were Treliving, why would you give up the closest thing to a #1 centre that scores 30 like clock work & signed to an amazing cap friendly contract for 3 more years & in his mid 20 prime years? For what, a #3 over all pick. Fck we had Bennett at #4 & he is no where close to Monahan. The kid might not even make your team for a couple years, let alone be given the top line right off the bat. That would be a hard no.

I don't disagree, and I like Frolik for what he has done. But the fact is he is over 4 million in cap space, and The Flames need Tkachuk more than Frolik. Have to get the space somewhere and as soon as Valimaki got hurt it wasn't going to come from Brodie.
