Sorry, my comment was more aimed at Jovo’s position regarding a players salary being tweeted out as it was news.

Now if Jovo said the new bread of NHL players are self righteous jerks who never learned to earn their contracts, that would be worth reporting.

- bloatedmosquito

I know what you meant. It wasn't conversation worthy so I just kept going, skipped your part and added on.

I would give him a Keller contract with a few 100k added. 8 years 7.5m. Will be a steal in years 3-8 and a good contract in year 2.
- Retinalz

If you were going 8 years with Boeser. It might be closer to the 8.5 considering everyone knows the cap will go up a bit in the next couple of years with new team and new TV deal.

Which I don't really like the idea of it going up if the players aren't getting full salaries. Keep a bit of the cap rising back to pay the players their full salaries and so there isn't a huge jump in salaries if it could go up 5 million in a season.

Ahhh, got it, Jovo’s opinions are believed when they fit your specific narrative, but when his opinion is about what he believes Boeser should be paid he is meaningless.

- Makita

Jovo has been out of the game for a while to most of our knowledge. He might be a little out of touch with the capologists of the world.

Vancouver Canucks Restructure Front Office
SEPTEMBER 11, 2019 AT 12:44 PM CDT | BY GAVIN LEE LEAVE A COMMENT

The Vancouver Canucks have made several changes in the front office in preparation for the upcoming season. Chris Higgins re-joins the team as assistant director, player development, Todd Harvey and Derek Richard will take on additional responsibilities as amateur scouts and Troy Ward, Phil Golding and Martin Bakula have all been hired as amateur scouts. Other changes in the scouting department include Pat Conacher moving to the amateur side after several seasons as director of hockey operations with the Utica Comets, and Ryan Biech joining the team as a video analyst. Dan Cloutier, who has served as a goaltending coach and director of goaltending for eight seasons, has resigned.

Keller is easily his closest comparable right now. He is not 1.3m better than Keller by any means.

How so? Laine is better than Brock in a bigger way than Brock us better than Keller. Laine has hit 30 goals 3 seasons in a row and 40 in one of them. Brock has yet to hit 30 once. Keller is more comparable to Brock than Brock is to Laine in a BIG way.

Do you crunch #’s or just stop at totals & ignore context? Maybe Reuby & his childhood friends can teach you about stats. Laine & Boeser are also stylistically comparable w/ similar weaknesses.

Cloutier was always a loser. Markstrom turned the corner when Ian Clark came on board...thank god. Higgins is a smart guy.

Keller's career avg over 82 games is 55 points. Boeser's is actually 68 if he could play a full season. That's a 13 point jump which 100k per point used to be the benchmark would be about 1.3 more per season.

Jonny is close and took 6 years. Tarasenko 8 years at 7.5 AAV is 10.27 percent at the time.

Tarasenko career is was 62 at the time and is now almost a ppg.

Boeser took around 10.27 of today's cap is around 8.3 million.

Calgary Flames Sign Michael Stone
SEPTEMBER 11, 2019 AT 3:37 PM CDT | BY GAVIN LEE LEAVE A COMMENT

In a downright shocking move, the Calgary Flames have announced one-year contract for Michael Stone. Stone of course saw the final year of his previous contract with the Flames bought out in August, meaning he’ll not only earn the $700,000 on this new deal but an additional $1,166,667 for each of the next two seasons from the buyout. Stone had been set to earn $3.5MM on his previous deal, meaning the Flames are actually saving more than $1.6MM in cap space this season—room they desperately need to re-sign Matthew Tkachuk.

Today a promising young career was cut short, as 20-year old defenseman Zachary Lauzon has announced his retirement through a piece by Mikael Lalancette of TVA Sports. The former Pittsburgh Penguins prospect was not offered a contract from the team this summer after dealing with post-concussion symptoms for two years, but did receive an invitation to their rookie camp. Unfortunately, Lauzon’s headaches and dizziness returned, leading to his decision to end his hockey career.

Yeah I thought that the league has a rule that you can't sign a player in the same year you buy them out. Interesting...

I am thinking the same thing. How do you pay a player twice. I could see a lot of mid range buyouts and probably brought for less money.

I just bought out Baertschi's last year and 1.7

Sign him to a 1 year 900 k deal and Van saves 700 k
