Todd how confident are you that there is still offense there? I know when he was drafted you mentioned that his numbers never popped off in jr because he had to get used to the n/a style and he also battled injuries and suspensions so now that we are this far in and you have a great bit of data do you believe there is much to be tapped or is the data telling you to give up on that side of his game ?

Just echoing what someone said on the last post. Nico has put on some more muscle. Things are really coming together for him. Smart, quick, skilled and tough. Man I'm excited

I think Nico has to be one of our surest bets, which is amazing really.

In 20 the players adjust their stick positioning and can actually hit one-timers, rather than shooting air and missing the puck, so that's the biggest plus for me lol

I think there might be a little more pop if he starts going to the dirty areas more aggressively but I'd never expect a lot of offense from him.

Nice ! Whats youre go to game mode ? I love gm ( who wouldn't lol ) but i find after 5 years there is way to much talent in the league.

I dont know if they need to work on less players actually panning out but you can find way to many elite players at any point in the drafts. Especially if you invest heavily in amateur scouting.

I think I get that they wanted to make sure you could find steals in later rounds but i find it to easy.

What do you mean by dirty areas though? I dont think its necessarily banging them in around the crease thats going to do it i think he has the tools to score. I think he would benefit from the same message being sent to boqvist which isnt to get more aggressive in a physical manner but make sure you are getting to the inside on guys. I think he needs to do more to make skill plays happen then banger types of plays.

Is that what you are saying or you are saying he isnt going to produce more unless he devlopes more into a rugged power forward carryung players on his back to the net ? I still see him being more finess then a mean powering player would you agree ?

I hope so and with them announcing the njdevils.tv thing I cant see them not having tons of coverage. I had the rogers gamecenter the past two season and they still let you watch games and what not from the past season if you go back on the calender but what i like to do is constantly change fav teams and see all their videos and some teams really lack in coverage and we arent one of them so its pretty amazing .

Are the days of players being developed the Elias model extinct ? Just curious as it seems that if you havent reached a 60 pts season by 22 youre a bust or not top tier ? Has the game changed that fast ? Seems almost five years ago 22 would still be considered a legit prospect now it seems to be strickly 18 to 20 or bust .

If zacha were traded I’d rather he be sent in a package, poop picks and incomplete players aren’t worth what he brings to the roster.

Gusev isn't in NHL 20 yet, kinda disappointed. Didn't see Boqvist either, hoping they are added in shortly.

Also, don't ever preorder for HUT packs. Waste of money to get a 85 matthews and 83 player of your choice (goes up 1 overall every month until April).

When it says they singled out Boqvist does it mean he was more impressive then Hughes? I thought Boqvist was very good but that Clarke and Hughes were too. I think he's got a great shot of forcing his way onto this team. He'd probably be a great 3rd line player to start.

Still like watching Bastian's game although I get that he's not considered a special player.

As for Zacha, if he's got value I'd be fine trading him in a package for a real asset but I wouldn't want to give him away for (say) a 2nd round pick or something.

I dont think he will be at this point yet but what happens if Greene isnt an nhl level player this year? Do better players sit because he wears the C ala Salvador or would it be different this time ?

I still think he has another respectable season left at least but curious if it has been thought about.

Not keeping Boqvist would be a HUGE MISTAKE!! Is it ideal for him to be playing on the 4th line? No. Does Boqvist-Zacha-Simmonds even remotely look like a 4th line?? Absolutely not. To me that's the definition of 4 scoring lines. There's this thing in hockey that's extremely common that we arguably suffered the most of last yr. INJURIES!!! Having Boqvist in Sweden for any top 6 wing injury is a must have. We have a plethora of guys that can fill in for a bottom 6 injury. We don't for the top 6. If Hall, Bratt, Gusev, or Palmieri gets injured moving anyone up from any of the top 3 lines changes 2 lines that gets big minutes. The line of the injury & the line of the replacement. Moving Boqvist off a 10 minute line to a 15-20 minute line won't be a big drop off or a totally different style of player plugged in. He won't be in over his head as putting someone like McLeod Bastian Anderson Rooney Seney in. All of those guys are great 4th line guys & even 3rd line with all being very good defensively. It's going to take Boqvist a little time to adjust to the NHL, the rink size, his teammates, getting settled in off the ice, etc. Starting out with 10 minutes will best prepare him for a bigger role. Plus you've gotta be excited about Boqvist Zacha Simmonds/Wood. That could've been our 2nd or 3rd line last yr.

You can't just plan for the now. You've gotta plan for the season. Someone your counting on isn't playing well. Injuries in the short term & long term injuries. Chemistry on a line isn't working like u thought. Someone hits a wall like Bratt his rookie yr & Coleman to a certain extent last yr. Being able to move Boqvist up, plug in one of the several guys that are 4th line capable to give a player a couple nights rest in the box if needed. Not having Boqvist there's gonna come several points in the season where we'd be dying to have Boqvist & he's tearing it up in the SHL unable to come back til there season ends. To many valuable reasons to keep Boqvist. I think we make the playoffs this yr & do well but next yr we'll be real contenders. Having Hughes Boqvist & Ty coming into their 2nd yr with a full season & playoff experience will be a huge benefit.

Its not like he is an unknown at the SHL level so I dont see how it hurts his development to play another big year over there.

He got his feet wet in N/A this year at prospects camp, rookie camp and training camp.

Yeah it might hurt our skilled depth in NJ if a top player goes down with injury but it wouldnt be a wasted season for Boqvist per say.

I do however think he has a pretty good shot at making it and I believe its even been tossed around by Fitsy and Ray.

We are gonna have 2 stacked PP units. With Perimeter shooters, crease guys, playmakers galore. This is gonna be sick
