On defense, the top two pairings were as expected, with Morgan Rielly partnered with Cody Ceci and Jake Muzzin alongside Tyson Barrie. Rookie blueliner Rasmus Sandin skated with newcomer Jordan Schmaltz, Finnish free agent Teemu Kivihalme with Timothy Liljegren and big Ben Harpur partnered with Martin Marincin.

Gee what could possibly go wrong with this pairing?

That's the pairing they put out against Nylander to get his confidence going.

Guys - as anyone even stopped for one second to consider that an offer sheet for marner is likely to go down if we don't pay him googolplex / year?

Being open about not understand what someone is saying is a bold admission, but it's not an arguing point.

Again, tumbleweeds... They quietly (frank) off somewhere. I live on the Prairie, youd be blown away how many of you go by a day without anyone batting an eye.

Still having a hard time wrapping my head around Ceci as our new Top Pairing Dman.
He can’t be worse than Hainsey, right?

Cody Ceci turned the puck over on 16.4% of his defensive zone possessions last season. That ranked him 232nd out of 272 qualified defenceman.

Muzzin Barrie will be a better pairing then Rielly Ceci no question.

Defensively, I'm not so sure about that. Barrie likes to rover a lot and turns the puck over a fair amount. Muzzin had 102 giveaways last year.

I dont watch the Leafs but lots of people say Marner is the team and is indeed better. Is this true? If so, do you fans hold it against Marner for holding out for Auston cash?

Marner is sending mixed messages?

Oh frank, Marner has put Dubas in the friend zone.

A deal is never going to get consumated.

It’s too bad that Rielly has always had to play with a boat anchor.

Reading a lot today about a possible 6 yr deal for Marner, somewhere in the area of 10.5 per seems to be the consensus.
