Anybody hear about Ferris' radio interview this morning? Poor Paul Marner; apparently we were all mean to him and Mirtle is an "inexperienced" journalist for reporting the 7x11 offer.

Babcock is going to try and get his PP1 and PP2 to compete with each other for ice time but they really should just get the best 5 guys they can and put them out there for 1:30.

Last year the 2nd PP sucked.

Two years ago we had a top PP aim the league.

As the head coach, he has some kind of say in it. He directs his assistant what he wants him to do and the assistant executes his directive.

Sure he does, he's the head coach. The assistant may execute it but it's what Babs wants.

Ya I have no idea how that will work. Ideally the 1st pp should get 75-90 seconds. 2nd pp will get the rest, but if Rielly and Barrie are on opposite powerplays then one of them will see a drastic point reduction.

I kinda think that Rielly will get 2pp mins only because it sounds like Barrie is a pp specialist.

If he’s a specialist, great, he can make the 2nd unit special... because the 1st unit is run through Marner.

From what I’ve heard though it would better suit Barrie being a right hand shot on the 1st pp unit. Marner can tee Barrie up for a 1 timer, whereas Rielly is a catch and shoot guy

I’ve also heard that marner and Matthews have been switching sides on the pp and Matthews has worked on his slap shot this summer. So who knows.

Im glad Matthews is giving his one-timer side a shot, cause he can really rip it. I never considered Barrie’s slapper, but even Muzzin has a canny ability of getting pucks through and on net.

If you’re ever at a Leafs game, the last thing that happens during warmies is Mitch and Auston kinda zip-zag around and do little drop passes til one guy shoots.. maybe that’s something they do to stay sharp for switching sides on the PP?

I think the Dermott injury is going to help out with his contract status against the cap. I think he's gonna be a really good D and with a full training camp and some experience under his belt he could've earned himself a nicer payday than in a shortened season.

I think he'll end up getting a 2 year bridge in the $2.5-$3.0 range depending on the season he has.

Marner (RH) / Tavares (LH) / Matthews (LH)
Barrie (RH) / Rielly (LH)

Rielly can tee up Barrie. Marner can tee up Matthews or Tavares.

If that PP unit gets a PK stuck out there for 90 seconds, that puck is going in the net eventually.
