I am actually surprised they don't have Buch getting preseason action with Zib and Panarinin. Now would be a good time to build chemistry if they are going to start together |

I can see both sides of the fence in the D'Angelo situation.
However, why would anyone trade anything of value to the Rangers when they can simply sign him to an Offer Sheet?
At most, it would cost the signing team a 2nd round pick. I know there is a perception that Offer Sheets are frowned upon among GMs in the league ---- but if you really think he is a top-4 RH defenseman ---- you HAVE to pull the trigger.
So why hasn't an Offer Sheet been made? I don't know, but since one hasn't come in by now, I think Tony has to realize that he has over-played his hand. Time to come in Tony! |

Yeah, you probably don't want to kick the Rangers bee hive. It's very possible that in 2 seasons we could do an offer sheet after all the albatrosses come off the books. You kick the beehive, you are begging to be a target. |

The #Canes have signed defenseman Fredrik Claesson to a one-year, two-way contract. |

Good for him, I just didn't see him as an option here for us anymore. |

I don't see why they can't sign Tony D for 1.25 for a year or two! I get we got a lot of talent so either trade him for a 2nd round pick in next years big time draft or just give the guy over a million and be done. All this does is hurt the NYR from having Tony out of camp!!!!!
Edmonton wants Tony and we should get a good 2nd round pick from them for him! |

I think the Pionk deal made him feel $1.25 mill is not enough. He saw Pionk play up close all last season and thinks: "Hey I'm better than him, I should be paid more". And he's not wrong!
But ultimately, he is going to have to come in and swallow hard and sign. Have a big year and get even more than Pionk NEXT year. Just my 2 cents... |

Pionk signed for $3 mil per or $6 mil over two seasons. If ADA takes the current offer, he will have to make over $5 mil to match what Pionknis getting, not happening. |

He probably won't sniff the NHL, but gives us even more depth. Now up to 11 defensemen under contract who have played at the NHL level.
Jaccob Slavin - Dougie Hamilton
Jake Gardiner - Brett Pesce
Haydn Fleury - Justin Faulk
Gustav Forsling - Trevor Van Reimsdyk
Jake Bean - Fredrik Claesson

Going to have to agree to disagree here Jan. Here's why:
Last season, Tony D played 61 games and recorded 30 points --- roughly half a point per game ( .5/ppg ). We clearly lacked high end offensive skill as a team last year.
This season ---- we have undeniably much more skill --- we are going to score MANY more goals. Our power play is going to be MUCH improved. Is it crazy to think he can score at a ( .75 ppg) rate this year running the first string PP unit? If he plays just 70 games, thats over a 50 point season. That should certainly get him more than $3 mill/yr and I don't think my numbers are unrealistic... |

Possibly, but where are you fitting him in? Plus you then view him as more valuable than Carlo. Unsure I feel the same way. |

If he gets into camp soon ( a big if ) I see him as a 2nd pairing defenseman but top power play QB.
Skjei and Trouba will be first pair. However, I don't see Quinn overplaying Trouba which is why I don't think Trouba is on top power play unit. Trouba himself just stated the other day that he doesn't consider himself an offensive defenseman. Tony D on first PP and Fox on the 2nd PP unit. |
