Ben Shelley: Islanders/Flyers Preseason Recap (Game 2)
- Ben Shelley

Whats up with Ho Sang and Dal Colle ? Are they on their last legs as legit players in this org or are they on the cusp of breaking out ? I always thought the latter was going to be a real good player.

Do you guys think its a scouting thing or development thing ?

Ho sang and dal colle need to be more than they are right now.

We will find out soon, both need to pass waivers to be sent to AHL ( I think) so basically its NHL or bust

Ho Sang is on a 2-way still I think so he doesn't have to pass Waivers. MDC is on a one way contract.

That said.. MDC played very well last year and will get a very real shot at being on this team. Ho Sang seems to not be very loved by this coaching staff and will have to really show them something to get noticed and make the team. ... My guess is he will be in B-port.

For what ever the reason .. Nosang thinks he is above the rules and reproach!
he arrives late and doesn't exactly follow instruction very well no matter who the coach or gm is
I think if he was just able to get his crap together and actually focus on playing the game in Bridgeport .. he might pan out...

If he gets sent down again I doubt anyone is really going to mind if he doesn’t clear waivers.

Ho Sang has not been late to anything in Years. Just b/c some clown said it and then Ibob ran with it everyone thinks it's true. It's completely false. I flat out asked one of the asst. coaches who is a friend of mine and he said.. 100% B.S. Staple wrote about it last year as it was 100% false. Tired of people bringing that sht up...

His issues off the ice are related to doing all the right things like not staying up all night playing video games, or eating crap every day. His issues on the ice is he's a space cadet that doesn't seem to get what the coaches are trying to get him to do. Getting pucks deep instead of dumb give aways at the blue line, Back checking with 100% effort, not doing stupid sht on the ice.... He better do everything right this year b/c it's his last shot.

(His Dad's entourage following him around everywhere .. doesn't help either... hopefully he put an end to that too.)

I have the same concern. He's obviously a talented kid. I would hate to lose him for nothing, then see him catch fire somewhere else. It's not as if the team is overloaded with offensive talent. But he needs to improve his play without the puck......and learn when to keep his mouth shut.

My brain is still on baseball/football mode, but I thought I read some time ago that 1-way vs. 2-way contracts is irrelevant for passing waivers; that the issue has to do with something else like age or length of time in the pros?

Interesting, thanks. The only thing I remember was the time he overslept at training camp several years ago, and Snow made him run the stairs and then sent him back to his junior team.

One way deals mean you make the same money whether you're playing in the NHL or AHL. So if you sign a one-way for $1M per year, play terrible and get demoted...you make $1M to play in the AHL. Two-way deals pay you a different rate in the AHL (lower, obviously) than the NHL.

Waiver eligibility is determined based on your age when you signed the contract and how many total games you've played. This is a good primer on the rules

So sending him back to juniors for being late on day 1 of camp a few years ago was false?

you could be right on the passing waiver no matter whether one or 2 way.. I have no clue. thought that was the point of the 2 way though.

no... that was 4 years ago in 2015... the 5 times it's been said since was false. Like last year when I-bob reported it.

Buy you're right let's bring it up every time we mention his name that 4 years ago in his first camp he over-slept. BUST!!!!!
