I can see why that let Brandon Halverson walk after seeing Huska play last night, he was outstanding
it was hard to watch the Rangers mostly B group against the Devils A group
any talk of Joey Keane being anywhere close to ready is a pipedream - jimbo83
eventually Miller, Hajek and Lindgren on the left side gives me a chubby |

Watching these Pre season games I personally look at individuals who stick out. Last night without looking at the obvious like Chytil, Buch, & Nam to name a few. Ryan Lindgren looks like a keeper. Love how he plays the game and leads by example. We need that on this team. Our defense needs help big time. That’s going to be our Achilles heal this season. Hank is on the decline and I know he will still have a solid season but he won’t be able to cover the mistakes this defense is going to make. Nothing against Skeij but idk guys I personally don’t think he is a top pairing defenseman. I hope someone like Hajek, Miller, Rykov, or Lindquist can have a high ceiling in the coming years to pair with Trouba.
Also to add the Devils look like they are going to be scary good. This kid Gusev looks like he is the real deal and watching Hughes dart through our team reminds me so much of Crosby with his vision and skill. Sucks to say but I think that team is going to surprise a ton of people and could contend for the division with the additions they made. Regardless of the measuring stick being against our D team last night. I wouldn’t even consider it a B team. Lol |

Have to hope Skjei turns it around, but its looking more and more that his rookie season was an aberration.
Devils offense is going to be really good, especially if Hall re-ups after this year. If Schneider has a good season I could see them doing well. Devils helped themselves with Subban, but I think their D will be their issue. |

Honestly with Skeij I think we got very spoiled and he exceeded expectations with his rookie season. When he was a prospect we knew he was going to be a very good defenseman but nobody penciled him in to be a top pairing one and there is nothing wrong with that. I just think we really are putting him in a precarious situation expecting that out of him. For right now it’s fine but I think we should all expect that playing against other teams too end talent he is going to struggle. I think Trouba might even struggle being paired with him but just my opinion. We shall see and I hope they prove me wrong.
With the off-season we just had the expectations that I see and read is something we need to temper a little. We should all be excited but I really hope that we take our time with the growth of this team. Love the signings of Panarin and Trouba but we gotta remain grounded here. We gotta let these guys develops. I think Lias is going to thrive this season with a little less pressure on him now. Kravtsov on the other hand needs time IMO. |

I'm excited just because I can't remember them having this many potentially good young players. I still don't think they make the playoffs this year, although they might sneak in as a lottery team if everything goes right.
Lot of new faces so its going to take a little bit for the team to all get on the same page and grow.
Hank has been a monster for this team but I really hope the coaches give a bit more playing time to Georgie. Hank can't be playing 60 games anymore. |

It's early. So the only takeaways i have are that both Chytil and Anderson were really noticeable.
If they both solidify spots this year, that alone goes a long way towards a successful future.
The next question becomes how fast Miller & Robertson are ready on d. |

I'm not complaining but I'm totally confused how these split squads are determined. IMO they do not make sense. The Devil's on the other hand spread out the talent better. - topshelf17
Doesnt matter, its all preseason. The last 2 games of pre season is when you will see the line combinations that will most likely be used to start the season. |

If Skeij has a miserable year we will be a bottom feeder team this year. Only Trouba is a true NHLer. The jury is still out on ADA. Will he progress or regress?? Staal is a shell of his former self and had the worst numbers of anyone playing D with the Rangers last year. He wont improve this year thats for sure. The rest are just a bunch of hopefuls who havent played an NHL game yet.
Even though its only preseason and from what we have seen, the Rangers will have a lot of growing pains for the next few years, although there are some on this board think they will be contending within the next 2 to 3 years. Pipe dreams

They will not contend this year. In 2-3 years they should be making the playoffs if our prospects pan out.
This is same for every rebuilding team. You always state the obvious

When someone states a team is gonna contend, it usually means contending to win the Cup, not making the playoffs. Yes they might might the playoffs in 2-3 years but not having a realistic shot at winning the Cup.
I may state the obvious but I have too because this past summer I was lambasted for my pessimist expectations. Most of the Hockey gurus on this board have stated the Rangers are wining the Cup within 3 years time. |

So you can predict the future? You know for a fact this team has no chance for at least 3 years to do anything?
I am still going to watch the games anyway and see what happens. |

No I cant predict the future, anything can happen, but if you think a bunch of 18-22 yos will be competing for a Cup in the next 3 yrs, you are completely mistaken. I will give you 3 to 1 odds if you want to bet. |

Beerleaguers vs the Flyers - TPC
Beer Leaguers you say?? Trouba, Fox, Hajek, Lingren and Skjei are our most likely starting defense man. Thats our D going into the season. Oh yea throw in Staal and ADA.
Have you no faith?? |

Some thoughts on the most recent game:
Lindgren continues to impress, would like to see him paired with Tony D'Angelo or Fox before pre-season ends. I am hoping Marc Staal is our 7th D-man and sees very limited ice time.
Mckegg is proving to be a real surprise. I think he may steal 4th line center spot from Boo Nieves.
Shesty has undeniable talent, working with Allaire for a full season may make him even better than we can imagine.
This is going to be a fun group of players to watch grow together... |
