The coach wants different style of players on the 4th line and he may never be a fan of Spez.

Spezza

- Lucas.Neilson

Spezza needs to do his post-game interview after his first game as a Leaf on a stationary bike...for old times sake.

Here's the part that bugs me. When they signed Spezza, the story was this:

"Following an exhilarating meeting with Kyle Dubas and Mike Babcock during the free agent interview period, Spezza took the Leafs offer in hopes of staying even longer to help the club over the hump."

This means that Babcock was there on July 1 as a part of the meeting. As a part of the whole: Should Spezza take a multi-million dollar haircut and a reduced role to come back to Toronto and play in front of friends and family - for a good team - or is there no real role for him?

Babcock was clearly a part of the conversation that encouraged Spezza to come to Toronto . . . so these words, if they directed at Spezza, are a bit of slap in the face. It's not Dubas signed Spezza and Babcock was like, "What the Hell am I going to do with this guy?"

Not worried about he following: (in this order and injuries excluded)

1. Forwards, Spezza or the Goat...meh, 4th line will be fine.
2. Andersen...back up yes, but not Freddy...wish we kept McEill
3. Coach...not sure why everyone hates on him, sure a few stupid moves...but really what is the option, more Boudreau, Carlyles, etc...??? I remember the days of Ronny Wilson....fack!!!
4. Rielly, Muzzin, Barrie, Dermott

We look really good this year comparatively.

Only real worries we have going into this season IMO are: (in priority order)

1. Back up goalchie...Andersen goes down we're facked! ...a few teams have this problem too.
2. Ceci and Marincin...most teams have a few shaky dman too.
3. Injuries...all teams have this.

That's it....all in all not bad compared to years past. GLG

This doesn't sound like doom and gloom.. I'm so confused, now.. What happened to abandoning the ship? Are we staying aboard now?

It was a bit of a misunderstanding.

Babcock walked into the MLSEL war room on July 1st, munching a Starbucks pumpkin scone.

Dubas asked him if he would like a turnover machine.

Babcock misunderstood and told Dubas to get it done.

Babcock said he hates Spezza, wishes he was never born, shouldn't be considered an NHL'er anymore and that Spezza's great grandkids are already really ugly.. With all that said, he's going to name Spezza captain next week.

The Babcock way, I guess.

Why?

According to Torey Krug, Muzzin is the only Maple Leaf player willing to hit someone.
